A thermal, aero, performance jacket, engineered for Spring and Autumn training or an effective mid layer for Winter

Our GrandTour jackets are light, warm and smooth. Our garment goal was to make warm beautiful. The latest high performance fabrics, offer weather protection when training and during high-intensity sessions throughout the cooler months and Winter. Our Fabric partner has created PressureWeave, a new highly malleable and dense fabric that has a fantastic range of movement and fit. And that crucial difference, breathability. The advanced materials have laser finishing, so no hems or collar stitching are required, offering a sleek look and durable high performance. 3 articulated rear pockets and a secure chest valuables pocket will fit even a larger phone.

A drop tail provides some welcome extra coverage on wet days, and a large reflective panel  and 3M reflective stitching on the rear pockets and shoulders will help you stay seen even in low light. The jacket closes with a SBS®  zipper.

During harder efforts, the back panels of highly breathable Zero fabric help regulate temperature and improve the aerodynamic fit.

Designed to be worn with a long sleeve base layer (6-16DegreesC) and partnered with a gilet when the cool air turns freezing (0 to 6 degreesC)

The garment is designed to be neat fitting and only requires a thin base layer next to the skin. These are new generation fabrics, so we need to reconsider how we dress for conditions. This needs no extra layering in wind or rain. If you want a looser fit or plan to wear more garments underneath, please size up.

I have used this Jacket on several rides from 30 miles to 80 + miles with just a selveless or short seleve summer base layer and gillet if windy. Cannot recommend this jacket enough great bit of kit. Keeps the wind out and and body temperature just right. The only thing I would say which has been pointed out in other reviews center rear pocket is a bit to neat

Love love love this jacket and have worn it almost pretty much every ride this winter and just varied the under (and in some case over layers) I also have the winter training one but find this one (grand tour) much more breathable so the other hasn’t been used much. The only thing I prefer about the winter training is the pockets are a much better size. Maybe it’s because I wear XS in the grand tour, but the three back pockets are quite narrow and difficult to load with winter essentials compared with the winter training jacket. Waiting for orange to come back in stock to buy a second one! Wider pockets please if it is ever redesigned.

Purchased as a Christmas present to me, today was the first time I’ve got to use it (been using the excellent Mistral Pro 2 on colder rides). Temperature was about 8 degrees but felt colder due to the wind, but with only a Barrier base layer underneath – the GT was perfect. No hint of wind getting in, didn’t get sweaty despite the climbs and only unzipped on the final ascent. Really well made, but the middle rear pocket is a bit narrow. Side ones are great. Chest pocket useful for keys.
    I’m a 46” chest and 3XL fits really nicely.

In effect, this is a combined review of the GT jacket and GT gilet.

Me : 185 cms /87 cm waist…84kgs. Between L and XL but plumped for XL as it is a winter/cool weather garment and the larger size allows layering.
First impressions: I like the colour, feel and styling detail of the material. Combined with the Grand Tour Gilet the ensemble cuts quite a dash. The silky smooth material highlights ‘good living’, (had to hold my belly in). Jacket is so svelte that I had doubts that it would be warm enough.

Wore jacket today for first time with Mistral bibs tights for 100 kms steady ride . Layered up with 200mg merino LS baselayer, Grand Tour gilet, buff and Tourmalet packable jacket. Average temperature 5 degrees, but was zero at 8 a.m . After 15kms had to remove packable jacket as I was too warm even though it was still chilly. The Tourmalet jacket fits perfectly into the middle pocket of the gilet. Had we had ridden more aggressively, I would have been over-dressed.

The jacket and gilet both have capacious chest pockets with good quality zips which I managed to operate wearing Barrier gloves. They both have plenty of rear pocket storage too.

The combination was perfect for today’s cold, dry conditions.

In conclusion, the kit looks and feels super. It performed very well in the conditions as described above. Only time will tell regarding longevity, but if previous purchases from Galibier are a guide, then I have little to worry about.

I bought one at the launch in the early Autumn and it doesn’t clam up, even when climbing or riding hard with the chaingangs on the last few Sunday spins. The two back panels are made of a lighter fabric, so I’m sure this helps. I would say it is more suited to Spring and Autumn rather than a full Winter jacket needed backed up with a gilet. The chest pocket fits my iphone13 nicely. Really delighted with the purchase.
