I bought the yellow jacket as I didn’t fancy the red, however my mate has the red and both are just as stunning as each other, I bought the Xxl having a dad body! My frequent go to jacket on those gravel rides. Looks great, feels great, it has everything you would need from a cycling jacket. Galibier, that is a cracking jacket.

I absolutely love this jacket and it arrived quickly and beautifully packaged. Used it a couple of times already this Winter and had no issues with the cold at all, albeit with a couple of layers underneath – it was about 3-4 degrees. I’m 5ft 11inch and around 81kg and the large fits absolutely perfectly. I’m not usually one for writing a review as it always seems that other people have already said what I would have said. However, based on reviews I have purchased many Galibier items, all superb, so I feel I must comment on this Lautaret Insulated Jacket as there are not many reviews and I feel people may be missing out on an excellent jacket.
With the change to more autumnal weather and cool early mornings and then the temperature rising maybe by 10-12°C in the sun I decided to try this insulated jacket rather than my usual combo of a windproof l/s jersey and mid layer over my base layer.
It was quite cool at 4°C so I initially wore a light windproof over the Lautaret jacket and my usual standard weight base layer underneath. I also had summer weight arm warmers on as I suffer from cold arms.
Half an hour up the road and the sun was giving that first warming effect so the windproof came off. For the next 3½ hours the jacket was awesome at keeping me feeling just right; the ‘feels like’ temperature was hovering around 10°C in the tree lined shade rising to 15°C in the direct sunlight, and there was a cool sea breeze riding along the coast. Zip came down a bit in the direct sunlight and the high collar was nice in the cool breeze. I kept the light arm warmers on but I’m guessing most people would be fine with just the jacket as the arm roubaix fabric is double layer.
Once home I did the usual feel around on the inside of the jacket for moisture; none and it didn’t even feel damp; my base layer was dry. I was amazed.
Rear pockets are a good size to get your gloved hands into for snacks and chest pocket is neat for small items like bank card, key etc; double zip is useful for access to inside pockets if wearing a jersey underneath.
For me this is the perfect cooler weather jacket with a wide usable temperature range and only needing a base layer underneath; for autumn weather, spring weather, in fact the weather we have in the British Isles for a lot of the year. Add in a windproof / light jersey / waterproof and all conditions are covered.
This jacket is so good I have ordered another!!

Have worn this jacket a few times now between 4/7 degrees… With a medium weight base layer. It’s absolutely brilliant. Felt warm the whole time with NO wind chill without over heating 3hr rides.. Fit is true to size .. Good size rear pockets for winter riding.. Love it so much I ordered another one in gold and navy… Once again another top product from the Galibier team.. Just got back from a 3 hour ride where the mercury barely hot over6°C. I was comfortable all the way round, protected on descents, but still not too warm when making an effort. Never considered an insulated garment before, but the 1970s Everton away kit vibe of yellow and blue was too tempting. Jacket is lightweight and doesn’t feel any bulkier than my Sentinel or Grand tour jerseys. Another great product.
