For over a decade, our Foul Weather jackets have shielded cyclists, embodying versatility and protection. This newest iteration is a product of invaluable customer feedback, emphasizing a more comfortable fit and wider rear pockets designed for easy access even with winter gloves.
The heart of the Mistral jacket lies in its unique three-layer German membrane. Despite being only 1.2mm thick, its efficacy in protection is unmatched. When paired with just a light base layer, riders can enjoy utmost comfort during their training. Furthermore, the newest Mistral boasts a refined, lighter fabric equipped with a highly durable DWR finish. Its prowess lies in its ability to fend off sharp winds and shield you during unexpected November rains.
While the jacket excels at protection during non-summer months, it’s not just about blocking out the elements. The Mistral ensures riders stay warm, thanks to its 100% windproof feature, enhanced breathability rating of over 13,000, and a water-resistant soft-shell. Although the exceptional stretch of the material means seams cannot be internally taped (making it susceptible to heavy downpours), the Mistral’s magic is that you remain warm.
One rider perfectly captured the jacket’s essence: “I had a warm chest during a rapid descent amidst a thunderstorm…simply unreal.”
Having warmed riders in over 36 countries for the past 10 years, the Mistral also proudly presents a female-specific cut.
Notable Features:
- 8000/13000 Triple layer membrane (WP/VP)
- Windproof anti-stick zip
- Over 3 meters of specialized fabric in every jacket
- Zip garage for neck protection
- Articulated fleece collar for a snug neck fit
- Rear pockets with 3M reflective trim for enhanced visibility
- Full windshield double cuff
- 3 expansive rear pockets with a mesh drainage feature
- Silicone waistband ensures the jacket remains in position
- Double stitching for durability
- Convenient side zip security pocket
Sizing Guide: Designed for a snug fit, the Mistral only requires a thin base layer. These are cutting-edge fabrics, redefining dressing norms for varying conditions. For wind or rain, no additional layering is necessary. However, if you prefer a looser fit or anticipate wearing additional layers, it’s advisable to size up.

Hi there
I bought the foul weather jacket recently.. I tried it last week on a grey chill cloudy cold day (~ 6 deg C), with a thin jersey and a thin long sleeve underneath it. I was out for 3 hours without any problems. So the jacket is performing good for me. Note: I am a beginner and I would characterize my style as “low speed”.
Based on my size (Chest= ~45-46, Waist=~42, Hips=~44), Galibier advised the XXXL size. Being 1,88m tall and ca. 100kg. I was a little bit sceptic but I can confirm that the jacket fits very good! The stretch compensates without problems my (over)sizes in waist/hips. So I am very satisfied user…
4* because no long time experience yet…

Absolutely perfect jacket! Bought it recently and used it on my last 2 hour ride at -3c; 20-25kmh wind, wore only warmer base layer under and I was warm for a whole ride. I am 180cm 75kg and ordered L size, it was a bit snug, swapped with XL size which fits me perfect and I can wear warmer base layer or even 2 if I decide to ride at temperatures closer to -10c
hickey_dave (verified owner) –
Ordered on a Thursday evening and had it by Monday which was great. I’m M, 5’10 – 85kg +/- Christmas (!) and went with the XL, and it fits great. Read all the reviews below to get a feel for size as there are loads of examples and they are a snug fit.
Quality is actually great for the price. Its sort of in between a soft shell and a full rain coat, so its great for cold Irish weather and saves wearing 3 + layers. There is a bit of stretch to the material and a little bit of thickness to its a good all rounder.

Mistral 5 Foul weather jacket first ride today. Awesome jacket, performed brilliantly on a hilly club ride at around 4-5 degrees C throughout with a 15-20 mph wind blowing all morning. Just wore a thin merino base. Good sign was that I forgot to think about the jacket as never too warm or too cold.
Lots of good features; phone pocket, zip pocket for keys and card, zip works well in winter gloves, cuffs very snug, comfy neck , mesh in rear pockets and build quality feels great.
I am a skinny 187cm 74kg 104cm chest and waist 82cm. Asked Keith for advice re sizes and got immediate advice to go LARGE which is a perfect fit.
Value for money like you would not believe!

Bought this in the summer, wore it for the first time today, absolutely brilliant, I was toasty warm while riding. Not tried it in the rain yet but have no doubt it will be fine
Franklin Kingma (verified owner) –
I used the jacket for the first time last weekend. 5-8 degrees celsius and a long sleeve thermo, I was never cold and never too warm. 184cm, 79kg, 101,5cm chest. I am very happy!
Hugo Diepman (verified owner) –
Really good piece of kit. Keept the cold and rain at bay without any issues. My only complaint is I don’t get to wear it enough!
I am 195 cm (6’5″) and 100 kg and the XXXL fits perfectly.
James Lewis –
I have the Mistral 4 which is an brilliant piece of kit for the money: lightweight, breathable and incredibly effective in rain. Makes a massive difference when you anticipate rain but really want to get out and ride. Has made a massive difference and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or buy any of these jackets as a result.
Also, great advice was rapidly given on sizing too.

I love this jacket, I’ve got a lot of different autumn/winter kit, but I only used this and a warm base layer this winter, it’s absolutely awesome,I’ve worn it in -2 to 12c and its perfect, feels great on, looks great on, and I would say if you are wanting a jacket then get this, I’d give it more than 5 stars
Rob (verified owner) –
I wear this with a long sleeved Spatz base layer and a pair of Galibier Mistral tights. Superb! I never feel cold nor overly hot, riding in temperatures of around 3 degrees, often with lower wind chill. Buy with confidence, it’s very good indeed and makes Castelli look a little daft.
Colin (verified owner) –
Fantastic Jacket.I was sceptical about the claims in regards to the temperature it could handle with just a thin base layer but wore it out at temperatures close to freezing and it kept me warm.
The best part about this is that you don’t get that boil in the bag feeling that can be the case with many other jackets of this type.
It is a fantastic jacket and will get plenty of use.

This review has been well overdue, I recently had glandular fever and was looking for a jacket that would keep me warm. I reviewed numerous jackets but came back to the Mistral foul weather Jacket which as described in the write up “The goal of this jacket is to keep you warm while riding in ALL conditions”. My first ride out it was 5oC and wanted to test it out, I can attest it is true to word … I was warm without being toasty and needing to remove layers. The fabric is soft, light, wind resistant and the price is amazing for what this jacket delivers
Philwinr (verified owner) –
According to size guide and peoples reviews I was sure a size L would fit (12.5st, 6’2″, 39″chest) however it was cutting under the arms and a tad short on the sleeves. Exchanged for an XL which fits perfect. Sleeves are long enough, its not an aero garment but still close enough not to be baggy in any way. Looks great, the tight cuffs are great for keeping drafts out and fitting under gloves. Worn this morning in 3C with a thin long sleeve base layer and was just warm enough. Would certainly be good enough for 0C with a thermal base layer. Not worn in heavy rain yet but light rain beaded up and rolled off. Great price compared to the likes of Castelli who are after £200 for a Prefetto. Highly recommended. Also some nice free summer socks thrown in.

When I first came across Galibier, I was a little skeptical of how good their kit would be based on the price (especially compared to some of the known brands). Simply put ‘I have been blown away!’. In terms of quality – my Mistral 5 jacket is truly awesome and is the perfect jacket for Fall and Winter in Vancouver, Canada. It has made me want to ride in the rain. In terms of price – this is just the icing on the cake. I feels like I should be sending them extra money! While this is my first piece of Galibier, it wont be my last (I have already ordered more).
David (verified owner) –
Bought and worn through winter into spring. Absolutely brilliant. Really breathable, great fit. Survived a crash that my collar bone didn’t! I have the black and the reflective strips are great. Brilliant value too.
Tim –
I bought this jacket in black before last winter and it is the best cold weather item I have bought, it kept me warm and dry down to zero degree temperatures, with little need for anything under other than a good base layer on most occasions. I bought a large and am 1.8m and 70 kg to allow ability to wear base and jersey underneath.

I was holding off buying a Mistral jacket because the colours just weren’t, to my mind, quite obvious enough for other road users where I ride. When the new fluoro-yellow one came out I had to get one.
And what a purchase! The fabric is amazing and feels like it is an incredibly premium garment. I’ve not had the opportunity yet to test it in really cold or wet conditions but in the damp, windy, cool early summer of County Galway it has performed perfectly up to around the advertised 15C with a thin baselayer underneath. The pockets are really well thought out, especially the middle one being narrowed for a phone. The construction of the cuffs is incredible.
In a word – this is the best bit of cycling kit I’ve ever bought. Now for a Sentinel jersey in the same colour please!
FG (verified owner) –
Great jacket, lives up to the hype.
Im a 36 chest(about 91cm) and the small is perfect. its very snug about the waist which keeps it in place but not too lose on the chest, perfect for me.
At 5 degrees (realfeel 3) it was good with a light poly base. A little damp if working hard but thats to be expected with any clothing.
At 2 degrees (realfeel -2) it was perfect with a medium merino baselayer & neck buff).
Would have no problem wearing it out down to -5 with an adequate baselayer, neck buff and hat.
I do think it would be a bit warm on any day above 7 degrees & would be total overkill at the upper temp of 14 degrees (mentioned in the marketing material).
Keeps out light rain, wont keep out a downpour but thats not its function. Warm even when wet.
Only gripe is the grey went on sale the day after i bought it so I could have saved a little on it by waiting 24 hours, but thats life i guess!
Rich Gammon (verified owner) –
Bought this on the recommendation by someone and at £69 it is an absolute bargain, it’s lightweight and it does exactly what it is supposed to, using a cheap base layer with this jacket has kept me warm even on days even when it was down to 0c and a bit of snow was falling. Fits great and looks good too.
Nikhil Deol (verified owner) –
Fairly new to cycling and got recommended Galibier through a friend. What can I say, the reviews are accurate and the company is brilliant. I ordered this jacket and its been brilliant, with only a base layer needed underneath. I love the detail and thought behind the design, from the zipper to the cuffs. Its super comfortable and does group on the stomach. Im 6ft slim and 70kg, and medium was a perfect fit. I have purchased alot now from Galibier and I’m always impressed. I matched this with the bib bottoms and the gloves.

Worn throughout the Winter, I’ve found the mistral to be great. Worn with a long sleeve base layer in Spring or a fleece winter jersey beneath for those cold days where a warm core is key.
Pete (verified owner) –
Fantastic jacket, super value. Bought to replace a gabba- it performs as well. I would only make two small changes- make the length of the body 2-3cm longer and the pockets a little bigger.
I am 175cm, 69 kg and 38 inch chest- I bought the medium which fits well. I have been using it with one base layer all winter. I like the zip toggle making it easier to unzip with gloves, the zipped pocket at the back, the high neck and great colours in the grey and orange
Well done Galibier
JimM –
Just got a medium in the grey,I was worried it would be too small as I’m 45 and not as pro shaped as I could be (biscuits) but it’s a really good shape, slim and not flappy. I’m a 38 chest and 178cm tall.
Took it out with a short sleeved base layer in a 9deg day, it was excellent. Cool with the zip down and warm with the zip up.
Matt Ellis (verified owner) –
Bought mine at a cycle show a couple of years ago – Black/Green not long after that colour came out. Agree its probably the best winter bike jacket out there, I have a Gabba 3 too but the Galibier Mistral gets used way more !
Size L for my 39-40inch chest works really well for me, just a long sleeve base layer underneath. Good for -2 and up to about 6-7degrees Id say, after that it gets a bit warm. Teamed up with the mistral bibtights this makes an excellent set winter kit. The pockets are huge and can carry all sorts of winter kit/spare gloves etc.
Hightly Recommended.

Got mine in October after spotting a ‘Best cycling kit I bought in 40 years of cycling’ in the comments on one those ‘379 Best Winter Jackets’ piece (that didn’t mention any Galibier kit). Now after 2000km and some 100+ hours of riding in the ‘finest’ Scottish weather, I too can say that this is the best piece of cycling apparel I have ever owned, it has kept me comfortable in hours of sustained rain in single digit temperatures as well as when it dips below zero. It’s as waterproof as can be expected of jacket without a hood, and breathes better than any other breathable material I have ever tried. For me, with a single thin base layer it’s good up to about +10C and with two merino layers (200 + 260 weight) down to -4C, i.e., just perfect for Scottish winters.

Purchased before Christmas and worth its weight over the recent cold snap. Worn while mountain biking on t’Pennines and even during the harshetst weather kept me comfortable with long sleeve jersel and base layer underneath. Its not an insulating jacket but does v good job of leeping the wind out. Excellent extended zip tag on main zip a godsend when riding with thicker glove and zip not at all fiddly to access or assemble when riding.
If you get nippy then though on one of the insulated gillets underneath. I dont like skin tight cycle wear (never going fast enough to make it worth while) and the XXL I purchased is a comfortable fit with good coverage down the back and easily takes layers underneath.
Not fully waterproof but has kept all but the worst and prolongued wet weather out.
V impressed and worth a recommendation

Recently bought this to be able to cycle through the winter, very happy so far. The jacket feels great with excellent wind protection, made me realise how exposed I had been until now. I really like the fit, I’m 185cm, 80kg and large is a nice, snug fit with enough space for a jersey underneath. Really hard to fault for the price, Galibier is certainly my new go-to-place for all my cycling gear.

First Galibier purchase but won’t be the last! Absolutely fantastic jacket – top quality product at a great price. Sizing chart is spot on, fit and material are superb. Keeps you warm when it’s cold, blocks the wind on descents, you don’t overheat on the climbs and keeps you dry even in heavy showers. The number of positive reviews says it all!
glooptrooper –
Probably the best money I’ve ever spent on cycle clothing, warm, well made, superbly comfortable and it’s wind and waterproof as well. Worn for the first time on a 55K ride around 6C, in the rain and felt good the whole way. Congratulations and thanks for a brilliant bit of kit.
Gary (verified owner) –
Very impressed with this jacket. Used on a hilly 5 mile each way commute for most of the last four months in all weathers and found it warm on the downhills and not hot on the climbs from mid teens down to -1, although due to being surprisingly breathable it does leave a slightly cold back at very low temperatures.
Having been caught in very heavy rain a couple of times I’ve found it to be remarkably waterproof.
The only downside I’ve found, which is reasonably commuter specific, is that it takes a while to dry out after a complete soaking meaning I tend to go for my Madison coat if I know it’s going to be a wet commute purely because it dries quicker for the next ride rather than a fear of actually getting wet

Got to be up there as my best ever cycling related purchase. Great close fit and warm with a base layer ar 3⁰C. I went for a small (5ft 9 and a 30 waist?, fit perfectly. tab short at the front when off the bike but perfect on it and that’s all I’m bothered about. highly recommended!

First purchase from Galibier and thought I would try the mistral foul weather jacket, the name says it all. It will now be my go to jacket for all the types of weather you get living in the north west. The great thing about it is not getting to hot and sweaty going up those big climbs but still keeping your core warm on the descents. Great in the 4/5 degrees with one under layer. Great visibility out on the road and excellent pockets and little zipper store for money/keys. Pity I didn’t get a free neck warmer but I’m not complaining with the quality of the jacket. I’m 5’10” 70kg and ordered the medium, great fit for me. I have since bought the Gino pro gilet(will use later on in the year), and getting the wife to order me the Ardennes shield optics for my birthday.

So pleased I invested in this jacket just before Christmas 2020. Have now worn 6/7 times in 5 degrees down to zero and whilst fingers were cold (must get Deep Barrier Gloves) my body and core remained toasty. Reassuring hi-viz on front zip and back, together with a reflective panel. Three good pockets and useful key pocket at rear.
I’m 178cm, 86kg, and purchased XL. Fits great and have been wearing with base layer and s/s compression top during current cold snap.
I’ve never been disappointed with Galibier: stylish, good pricing, great products and customer service. Another excellent addition to my Galibier wardrobe. I may be needing a bigger one!

Jacket arrived today and seeing as I am currently under self isolation rules I have only tried the fit at home, but, it’s a great fit comfy, triple pockets are great (and not to high). Nice drop on the tail should ensure a dry backside. I’m 6’1” and 93kg and bought the XXL, which I am really pleased to have done, the XL would have been too small, used the size guide provided, it’s a great guide.
Very happy, now just praying for the self isolation to end and some poor weather to really test the jacket

Just received the Mistral Foul Weather in Grey. I am a medium in most items and this is a snug race fit, but certainly room for at least a base layer. The quality of this item looks great. Item arrived quickly and included a personal note and free neck warmer. Amazing service! Can’t wait to get out to try out this item, but just too icy today!

Loving this piece of kit! Night test flight at 2c and drizzle; Mistral with a thin base layer and light gilet (I’m old and run cold). Perfect fit, it made me feel svelte-ish… I’m 5’6”, 10st, and the medium is fab.

This is my 2nd Mistral jacket having decided to replace my 4 year old one which has seen me through all sorts of weather. The jacket is worth every penny, its my go to, it easily beats other jackets I have which are twice its price in terms of comfort, warm and ability to regulate my temperate. This latest version seems more refined in terms of fit the version I already own. I’m 172cm, 60kg, the medium fits nicely, comfortable and no flapping. As for the customer service, as ever it is genuinely unbeatable. Dispatch and postage times are exceptional, free socks were a bonus and even a hand written note included with the jacket just demonstrates the attention to detail. Very happy to spend my money with Galibier. Thank you

Took this jacket out for the first time on a cold day with biting crosswind. Absolutely superb jacket, kept me nice and warm and I really like the high collar to keep that wind chill out. Also like the fit which is reasonably close to body with no significant loose material. I am 174cm tall, and weigh 60kg and the small size is perfect.
First impressions are really good and look forward to using this and other Galibier products in the future! They also threw in some cycling socks into my order which was a really nice touch and are also a perfect fit. Keep up the top work.

This is my 3rd Mistral. I bought the first one about 4 years ago and still use it. This one is the best yet. My minor gripes on the last version were the rear pockets were a touch too high up the back for me and the cuffs were very narrow and tight though beautifully snug when on. All fixed now. Stretchy but tight cuffs now make the jacket a breeze to put on and take off. It feels less bulky a snugger fit/cut too but retains the warmth it’s famous for. Awesome piece of kit. Highly recommended

5′ 11″ 80KG male bought a large and the fit is great. Arms long enough to cover gloves and has kept me warm with a base layer in 2hr + rides at 4degrees. Stlyish look and definitely does the job. So impressed that I then ordered the fire feet socks and barrier deep winter gloves and been equally impressed with those too. Delivery to South Korea quick and customer service great.

I waited a few weeks to review so i had used it in multiple weather types. I do deliveroo so im out more or less 7 days a week for up to 6 hours, in Edinburgh Scotland. The weather has been windy, rainy, and temps down to 3 degrees. I havent needed anything but my cycling jersey underneath this. In 3hrs of semi constant rain and wind i remained dry and warm. It is amazing. Even if i worked up a heavy sweat, its gone before im home and changing. Utterly fantastic product and even packaged with a super personal feel. You have saved me from a horrible winters outdoor work. Big love.

I love this jacket, bought it a few weeks ago and have ridden in wet weather twice. Last weekend saw 45 miles in horrible wind and rain and I was absolutely toasty. 173 cm & 93kg and the XL is a good fit.

The jacket’s brilliant. It’s comfortable and keeps you warm. One of the biggest advances is that it doesn’t make you overheat on hills. My usual ride has two hills which are 4-5km long with an average gradient of over 6 percent (topping at 22 percent). I didn’t even have to open the jacket when going up them when the temperature was 9 degrees centigrade. It’s not fully waterproof but it keeps you warm. It’s probably the best foul weather jacket I’ve had over the years

Good warm jacket. It doesn’t keep the rain out but I do stay warm. Great comfort around the neck and cuffs. I’m afraid it looses a star as the reflective panal on the rear has started to peel off. I’m 6ft 185lbs and size large is a nice fit.

I had pondered buying this jacket for a number of years but didn’t like the black version. Once I saw that the new grey and orange version was available I decided to buy it as it’s a great design. I’ve so far used the jacket once and the quality is excellent. Consider that I’m comparing this to the Castelli Gabba which I’d had for a few years, I feel it is on a par with the Gabba but prefer the slightly looser fit of the Mistral, plus it’s fully waterproof. We did a ride a couple of weeks ago and it was around 10c, I just wore a summer sleeveless base layer underneath and I was probably slightly too warm but the jacket did not become clammy. The forecast had been for light showers but later in the ride the rain came down heavily for a hour, I was happy I had the Mistral on as it did the job well, the rain just bounced off and coped with the sustained period of soaking. Now to test it in colder conditions…
Ben Manwaring (verified owner) –
Worn the Mistral for about 6 commutes now, and have already experienced temperatures from 3 – 10 degrees and heavy rain. I’m a long term user of Castelli Perfetto jerseys, but wanted something slightly warmer for early morning commutes.
Good
– Softshell fabric extremely wind and water-resistant
– 3M reflective patch is great for the commute
– Breathability pretty good
– Sizing accurate to size chart
– Double cuff design is lovely
Bad
– Great fit on the hips, but the shoulder/biceps quite large
– Drop tail could be a bit longer and more protective
– Pocket position is a little high and awkward
– Finishing around rear hem a bit poor
– Vislon front zip would be nicer
All-in-all good value, but some small changes could make it an unbeatable piece.

Normal, fast delivery from Galibier. I ordered it for my October trip to France as the weather forecast was horrible. Used it on one really wet and windy ride and was impressed with how the jacket handled the conditions. Then the weather improved and I didn’t get to wear it again.
After two weeks quarantine I wore it today, 10° and a 20mph wind and I was too warm – that’s my problem not the jackets.
If you use the sizing chart then it will fit
Fantastic piece of kit which I’ll be using through the winter.
Andy Turner (verified owner) –
Fantastic jacket. I’m 6ft2″ and no lightweight with a 49″ chest, a bit of a tummy and a 36″ waist. I went for the 3xl and it’s great. Quite a close fit when standing but once in the bike it’s cut perfectly for riding in. With a fairly light short sleeve base layer it was fine even in single digit temps and a strong headwind. I never felt cold, but just as importantly I didn’t overheat when I hit a few climbs. If the reviews are right and it works well down to 0° with a Jersey underneath I can see this being my go to jacket a lot this winter!
Bruce Forman (verified owner) –
Fit
I’m 6’ 4” (1.93m) and 170lbs (77kg) with a 40” chest and 35” waist. I wanted a reasonably snug fit so decided to opt of size Large and basically it was spot-on. It was a little tight around the hips but everywhere else was perfect. The tight-ish hips was only noticeable off the bike and not an issue and even then I am just nit-picking. The arms were also pleasantly long with a nice, elasticated cuff at the end to seal out any drafts.
Quality
The quality of the garment is second-to-none with a very nice material and all-round finish is excellent. I overlooked the fact that it had a zipped security pocket as well which was an absolute bonus. The main jacket zip is very substantial and works well. It also has a large tab attached which makes unzipping on the go very easy. Something a lot of other clothes manufacturers could learn from. I have several friends who have the Castelli Perfetto jacket and this is at least up to that quality and they agreed which is amazing considering the price difference.
Performance
I bought the jacket for the exact changeable Autumnal weather we are having at the moment (Oct 2020) and as soon as I went out the door at 11 degrees C on a breezy day I knew I had made the right choice. I was wearing a thin LS Helly Hanson base layer and this has proved to be perfect so far. The jacket truly is wind-proof and felt very comfortable even in a very strong, cold wind.
The two rides I have had so far have been near identical conditions – 11-15 degrees C and encountered a short, sharp shower which the jacket shrugged off with ease. I suspect a more prolonged downpour would get through but I would expect that and carry a full rain jacket for those eventualities.
I would propose to use this jacket in colder conditions as well using a merino wool base layer.
Pros:-
Build quality and fit
Totally windproof
Shower proof (so far)
Cons:-
These are just personal observations and not really meant as downsides as such. The first is the colour choice of grey or black. I would have preferred the red that the Sentinal SS jacket comes in, not being a great fan of black clothing when cycling. However, I plumped for the black with the yellow highlights and bought a new hi-viz yellow helmet to match!
The second observation is to do with the fabric drop-tail. On my first ride I wore plain shorts i.e. not bibs and found that my rear end was definitely a bit breezy. It also felt slightly uncomfortable. On my second ride I wore bibs and there was absolutely no problem with the drop-tail.

Top Class!
Tried this out this morning at 6-8o with just a light merino baselayer underneath. I didn’t quite believe that this would be enough to keep me warm but it done the job perfect.
173cm, 75kg, 39″ chest, 30″ waist. Was between sizes (M&L) so went for the large as prefer my winter stuff slightly roomier. Could probably have got away with the Med if I was looking something racier.

The performance of this jacket is really good. I’ve worn it in 10-12 degrees and over with just a light baselayer, and when paired with a merino baselayer has been excellent right down to freezing temperatures. Breathability is quite good, while not at the level of some better known Italian brands it is still very good. I’ve done some hard climbing efforts in it and it does manage to wick the sweat away. Considering how much the jacket costs however I’m amazed at how breathable it turned out to be.
Sizing however is the issue where it drops a star for me. Admittedly my proportions are a bit bonkers, being 6ft 2, weighing 65kg with a 30 waist and slim chest. I went for a S as I like a tight fit and while the waist fits perfect, the chest, shoulders and arms are a bit flappy. Even if I sized down to an XS I don’t think I’d fit at the waist so the sizing seems a bit odd to me. So if you like a tighter racier fit maybe it isn’t the best fit. I’m probably being a bit fuzzy though and at this price point though I doubt you’ll find a jacket with a better fit without dropping at least double the cash.
I keep going back to that price and I really don’t think you’ll find a jacket thats better bang for your buck than this. Competes and surpasses jackets that are twice the price from bigger brands.

Followed the sizing chart and bought size large (80kg, 6ft, 40″ chest 32″ waist) size was spot on. Went out yesterday for the first time on what was supposed to be a dry test run 8-10C. Got rained on for 2.5hrs jacket kept me dry for the first 1.5 then the rain eventually got through the chest but it was pretty constant by this stage plus spray off the wheels. Wore it with the lightest of base layers and temperature was comfortable throughout. Bit of room in the fit for something heavier underneath on colder days.

First ride with this jacket: I was determined to use this today even though it was 17*c, Bright and blustery. I thought i might overheat so planned on a quick 10 mile ride. I got to 10 miles and felt fine so continued to 25. My temperature remained constant and didn’t overheat at all (I used the jacket as a cycling jersey so wore nothing underneath). It feels like a quality bit of kit – well made and some really nice design features (the didden elasticated cuff). I followed the sizing chart and fit was perfect (5’10”, 43″ chest – XL). Great jacket – Great service!!

I hemmed and hawed about buying this jacket for some time, but the sheer number of positive reviews here – and elsewhere – convinced me to buy. It arrived this morning (within two days) and to say I’m impressed is an understatement, as it was immediately clear to me that this is a well thought-out, genuinely high-quality jacket that I now know I’d have been happy buying at a considerably higher price. I’d also like to mention the nice little note and extra gifts I got in my package, that’s a nice, kind touch that goes a long way – I’ll be back, thanks Myles!
I’m 5’9″, 43″ chest, 34″ waist and weigh 85kg – XL is a perfect fit.

Excellent product! Size L fits perfect for waist 32 and chest 39. Initially I ordered size M but it was a bit tight around the neck and chest. Amazing customer service as I received size L within 2 days. Thank you!

Just buy one! Best bit of cycling kit I ever bought, hands down. Flawless. Warm yet breathable. Nearasdammit waterproof but keeps your warm even if a small amount of water does get eventually get in after a torrential downpour or long wet ride. Comfortably warm in a N/E wind. Super visibility from the hi-vis yellow and white panels (I’ve got the black/yellow version). Good zip, HUGE pockets, good fit (6ft 3″, 42-44 chest, 34-36 waist, XL fits great), well made, washes well. Long sleeve Merino base layer takes me down to 1C, and vest or short sleeve lightweight base layer would take you up to 14C. I mean, come on, for this money? No brainer.

Very nice jacket. Comfortable and performs very well in wind and rain. I was between Medium and Large on sizing chart. I chose Medium and it was a little small for me. Galibier were very helpful and fast in changing sizes for a Large one, which is a perfect fit for me.

27/06/20, Bought as I have a Gabba but don’t like black and thought there must be something out there that’s as good, well this is it, I have not worn it in anger yet but comparing it to the feel and construction of my Gabba this feels as good, with the price making it better. For those looking at sizing unlike Castelli you only need to size up one size and the fit is perfect, please expect more orders as the weather closes in and my riding pals order one.
Alex (verified owner) –
Usually, I’d pick L or even M sizes, so when following the size chart the XL was confronting and vanity almost made me override that but stuck with the guide and it nailed it.
Excellent fit kept me perfectly dry in the rain without slow cooking me at the same time, which was a pleasant surprise. Don’t forget to keep layers on in the cold.
Jared Priestley (verified owner) –
Delighted with this jacket, fantastic quality, perfect sizing as per the guide on the website and an absolute steal at the price. Kept me warm even when riding directly into a headwind within 5 minutes of my night ride and didn’t overheat when I upped the effort and hit some hills later in the ride. Not tested it in any “foul weather” yet, but I’m more than confident it will hold it’s own.
A special thanks for the free socks too, will probably buy another pair.

Bought in November 2019 for €80. I’m 189cm tall around 75kg and have worn a size M jacket for >1000km now in all sorts of weather.
I really like this style of jacket, I used to combine a lot of different garments to account for different weather circumstances, now I just put on this jacket and switch out the base layer when it gets freezing or towards spring temperatures.
My main gripe is with the fit of the old style jacket. When I put on the jacket and pull it down it fits good. When I start cycling the back of the jacket rides up moving the whole jacket at the same time. Even with a fairly tight fit this gives it the jacket/parachute-y feel. I would’ve liked a better tighter fit which seems to be fixed in the new edition.
Waterproof smarthphone pocket is also nice but I can’t fit my smartphone (LG G6 5.7″). The pockets are in general a bit high up and not too tight, probably as a consequence of the material. Sometimes old wrappers fall out during the ride. This also seems to be fixed in the new addition.
For me the high neck was nice, especially with a buff. However, with my Adam’s apple I couldn’t zip it up all the way. Small stuff.
Overall, I like the style of jacket and quality of the material. But I’m not to keen on the fit and pockets of this old version. Would not hesitate to buy the new version. If only it was available in neon colours…..

The Best cycling jacket around!
Great new colour scheme grey and orange something different than black for a change.
Fit is superb nice and snug no flapping yet very comfortable. Keeps wind and rain out but doesn’t make you overheat. Very satisfied and definitely would recommend.
Paul Mounsey –
Superb jacket in the best colour yet.
Great sizing, 175cm, 64kg and the small is a snug but very comfortable fit. Thought it was too small at first as it is quite short at the front when stood up but an absolutely perfect fit when on the bike.
I’ve just worn a thin baselayer down to 6c and never felt cold but also never overheated when it warmed up.
Good size pockets and a very easy to grab zip which makes life that little bit easier.
Gotta love a bit of orange!
Clifford (verified owner) –
What a piece of kit! I went out for 4 hours in rain, wind and hail this morning. I had a base layer and top, the temperature was 4-6C and I was warm throughout. When I got home there wasn’t a trace of moisture on the inside of the jacket. This is the first time that I have an actual rain-proof, wind-proof, warm and functional jacket. And the price just cannot be beaten. Many thanks for the free hat that was thrown in as well!

Absolutely fantastic, this jacket is a must for any one who rides a bike. The size and fit is perfect and the distinctive grey and orange really stand out. Super super product with lightening fast delivery and a cheeky wee bonus skull cap added into the package. Thank you very much I am now a hooked customer

Superb “new” jacket that keeps me warm without feeling toasty. Used in in -5 degrees and + 10 degrees and you only need a baselayer underneath ( merino (Galibier of course ;-)) when it’s below zero or just a thin layer. I’m 184cm tall, chest of 100cm and bought a large. Fits really good with a baselayer underneath. Pockets are easy accessible and middle pocket has a reflective area. Unbeatable for this price !!!

Never normally leave a review, but just got the new V5 of this jacket and its fantastic, been out in swirling gales with rain and it performed perfectly didn’t get cold or wet, 6’2 41″ chest and got a XL, probably been fine with a L but ideal with a thick base layer or jersey not too restrictive. Extremely well made and pockets are ideal size etc.
Rick Parfitt (verified owner) –
Wonderful jacket. Absolutely delighted with the performance and fit. It’s lovely to see rain or spay stand up off the fabric to be wiped or blown away. Now just looking forward to buying my next piece of Galibier kit. Whatever it is I’m sure it will be as good.
Tom –
Didn’t realise a jacket could be so good, perfect for those cold winter rides and using as an outer layer for warming up. Couldn’t recommend more, best jacket out there
Brendan Roberts –
Wore this first time this morning, forecast wind and rain so seemed like the perect trial for it. It dealt very well with the wind, but the one time I was hoping it would rain(!) so I could test this out it didn’t materialise. I’m sure I’ll get other chances in the UK…As others have said I think the claimed temperature range is a bit ambitious: I wore this with a craft thermal baselayer and was pretty toasty around 9C (and wasn’t working too hard). But I can’t see myself using this with just one base layer down to 2C – no matter I can just stick a jersey on. Sizing is good for me (I’ve got the small) but the one odd thing is the size of the cuffs – granted it’s good for these to be snug but this is ridiculous – I can barely get my hands in and out of these, to the extent that I’m worried about daamaging the garment. I don’t exactly have shovels for hands, but it’s like this has been made for a child, rather than a fairly normal, slender cyclist’s build with adult hands. The pockets are also a bit on the long side to get access to stuff, but on the other hand that means you can get lots in there. All in all a very nice kit, but sort the cufs out!

Brilliant jacket for hand cycling, long sleeves cover the wrist when the arm is at full extension. The waterproofing is very impressive

Fantastic – What more can I say
Paul Wharton (verified owner) –
I have been using this jacket all winter for training and commuting without the need for anything underneath, even one morning at minus 5c. It’s is extremely comfortable and despite what others have said the deep pockets on the back are not a problem to me regarding their height. If I could make one suggestion for the next version it would be for some reflective material on the wrist or lower arm for signaling at night to make the arm more visible to motorist’s.
Raymond Smith –
I’ve had this jacket since Xmas and have used it several times but I have been lucky not to have encountered rain until recently. For me there are definitely pros and cons to this jacket
Pros. Quality of material and workmanship is excellent.
I have worn it down to freezing temperatures with heavy base layer and been very comfortable. With the temperature up to 12 degrees with lighter base layer I have not over heated as it is extremely breathable. Worn in shower conditions it is warm and dry apart from lower arms which get wet. I assume it because water runs down sleeve but it hasn’t been a problem. Good reflective strip and high vis stripe on back. Many comments on how good jacket looks.
Cons. I’m 5’10”, 80kg 41″chest which according to size chart is large but jacket is quite flappy so medium might have been better. The worst thing for me are the pockets. They are way too high. It is extremely difficult to access pockets especially on hard fast ride’s when on the rivet. The only way is for me too pull jacket down, struggle to access pocket and often have to abandon due length of time to get into pocket. On steadier club ride’s it’s not so bad as I have time to get bar or gel while waiting for weaker riders at top of hills etc. It might seem petty but I would not buy or recommend purely due to pockets

I bought Mistral Foul Weather ladies fit after reading about it in a cycle Mag. i also ordered a variety from other places to compare fit and fabrics..I needed something not to warm , not too thin, windproof and water resistant without overheating me. I kept the Mistral and returned all the others!
Im a size 12 and medium fits perfectly,i had thought a little short at the front but once on the bike i realised fit was great. Id also read on product description that you don’t need many layers which suits me perfectly and was very true. only thing i would change are the rear pockets a little too high, although on the plus, nothings going to fall out!! Will definitely reccomend this brand.

Right – the Mistral by Galibier. I’d been looking at this for quite some time and had been holding out for a discount code but nothing appeared so I sold my Rapha Winter Jersey which was a fantastic all rounder and bought this as a replacement. To say I’m impressed is an understatement. I’d worn a Gabba in the past a few times and admittedly the materials are different (or feel different) the Mistral is up there with the Gabba in my humblest. The material used on the Mistral certainly is NOT boil in the bag stuff – todays temp 15 degrees and it felt comfortable, zip open on a couple of climbs but I was working hard, but the feel of the jacket is spot on. Water proof? Yes albeit it may not hold out Monsoon type of rain but neither will the Gabba or Mossa but the Mistral stands up. Love the collar which is great with a buff for keeping out the worst of it, the zips have not failed at all which is a bonus. Wind proof? To an extent but I’ve not been out in 20mph+ gales as I’m not that daft but I’ve not noticed any major problems with wind getting through the material. Great longer cut at the back to stop your backside getting soaked as well – really well thought out addition. The rear pockets take some getting used to as they’re relatively high up but they’re bloody deep and if you lose anything out of them I’d be surprised! You could put the Titanic in them and not find it. However – I’d prefer them to be a bit lower but that may come with Mistral iteration 4. Overall I wish I’d gone a size smaller at a Large (I’ve a 42″ chest with a 34″ waist) and this is a great fit with a bit room to give so keep sizing in mind. Would I recommend? Definitely. Would I buy again? No – I’d go for the Pro Mistral but I’d not hesitate to say for under £80 I doubt you’ll get a better winter jacket. If this can withstand a Northumbrian Winter this can withstand anything. Buy it! Note: For an even better bargain Galibier has a shop on Ebay where (to my surprise) the Mistal is cheaper than at the shop. Now that is a bloody bargain!!

This jacket is called the ‘foul weather jacket’. Maybe a more suitable name is the ‘foul and freezing weather jacket’. In my experience, this is a very warm garment. Of course it all depends on your body and the amount of effort you are putting in when cycling, but for me personally (41 year old fit and slender guy) this jacket becomes too hot very easily.
After using the jacket for a couple of months now, my absolute temperature limit is 10 Celsius on cloudy days when using a thin and short sleeved baselayer. On sunny days, the maximum temperature to use this jacket on lays around 5 degrees Celsius.
The jacket is most suitable for subzero temperatures. There’s no need to layer up underneath. A single baselayer (long or short sleeved) is enough. Under those circumstances it always kept me nice and comfy, without becoming too hot. As said earlier, this is personal and your mileage may vary.
It’s also a great jacket in the rain. Once I was caught in a heavy shower with no place around to shelter. The raindrops formed pearls on the jacket and didn’t soak the jacket. It kept me nice and dry.
Some other reviewers complained about the pockets sitting too high. I can see that, but it didn’t form any problems for me. They are just fine and also very spacious. There’s also a small zipped pocket which is very handy for your keys or some money.
Some other reviewer also mentioned that this is more like a ‘jacket fit’ jacket and not a road cycling jersey fit. That’s absolutely correct.
Size wise, the chart said that I was somewhere between small and medium. I eventually choose medium. In hindsight I should have taken the small. The jacket is very spacious, especially the sleeves are very long. So consider sizing down if you are in between sizes.
So the good points:
– excellent jacket for very cold weather
– excellent coating against rain
– good quality materials and finish
– I like the bright yellow for visibility reasons
– spacious pockets, including a zipped pocket for valuables.
– great value, considering the low price.
The bad points:
– easily can become too hot when the temperature rises, depending on your body and effort
– not a very snug fit
– the fit is spacious, so consider sizing down
– the pockets may be placed too high for some people
Gerard (verified owner) –
Bought this jacket in early November and it’s probably the best piece of winter kit I now have. I’m 1.82m tall and weigh 72.5kg and the medium fit like a glove. I love the fact that there is no excess material and the sleeves are not baggy. The jacket did lose some of its water resistance after a few washes (I washed it at 40 degrees so probably my own fault) but Galibier are not lying when they say it will keep you warm in all conditions! Even in wet weather below 5 degrees celsius. If I had one minor criticism it would be that the pockets are a bit big and can be a bit awkward to access but overall this jacket is excellent, especially for the price.
Tino Todino (verified owner) –
Used it 3 times now in cold weather. Tonight was very wet. Happy to report that on all 3 rides my core was warm and comfortable, even though the rest of my kit doesn’t seem to be waterproof anymore lol!
Two criticisms. Firstly I find the pockets difficult to reach back for. They seem much higher than all my other jackets. Secondly, my arms feel a little cold compared to my chest and back. I would recommend a little more heat retention in the arms for the next iteration of this jacket and to lower the pockets a little.
I doubled up on the base layers 3rd time out and my arms felt so much better.
Clifford Hughes –
Had this as a Xmas present from the wife, but didn’t get to wear it till yesterday. Size wise, I’m 5’7″ currently 66kg and a 38″ chest, a small fits me perfectly when paired with a long sleeved merino base layer.
Conditions were around 10 degrees, and dry with light winds. I was planning on doing hill repeats, so this would be a good test of its wind blocking and breathable properties, and I can happily say it passed both for me,as I never felt cold on the descents or too warm on the inclines.
It didn’t rain so I couldn’t test it’s waterproofness, but I did put the jacket under a running tap beforehand, and the water just rolled off, so seems excellent in this department.
The only things for me that could be improved are that there isn’t much give in the wrists, and it was a bit of a struggle to get the jacket off, and I’ve certainly not got big hands!
So maybe some elastic or more stretchy material there?
Also I found the rear pockets a bit too high, and not being the most flexible in this area, it was a bit difficult trying to get to my energy bar with full fingered gloves on.
All in all though I’m very pleased with it, and considering the cost it’s a definite bargain.

Great Jacket. Had mine around a year now. Lots of use, still in perfect condition. I tend to use it when the temperature gets below 5 degrees, with a base-layer and a mid-layer. For me (5ft 8 63kg petite build) the size small is a good fit. It is more of a jacket cut, not as race fit as a gabba, perhaps the Mistral Pro is more Race fit.
I echo please comments re a more visible colours. Having been knocked off on the commute, I just don’t buy any cycling tops in dark colours. I have the blue mistral and will by another when I finally wear this one out, but not if black is only (main) colour. Red / Orange please.

Worn for the 1st time this morning, with just a base layer underneath. Kept me nice and warm and very comfortable. This will be my go to jacket for cycling in Autumn/Winter and for those chilly spring mornings.
Have no hesitation in buying more products in the future and already have my eyes on a few things.
Paul (verified owner) –
Fantastic jacket, comfortable, great value. Stick this on with a base layer and the matching bib tights and no need to mess about with any other layering or even a buff unless it’s really cold. Only suggestion for the next generation would be even more hivis/reflective, for the conditions it’s aimed at, the brighter the better, I am still wearing a reflective vest on top for dark rural commutes.
Myles –
Worn about a dozen times in British winter and they perform brilliantly. Great fit, feel and contortatable on rides over 3 hours. Better than two pairs of Spsortful’s I own.
The only comment is that the bib top (waist) is very high making inevitable ‘pit stops’ a challenge
Myles –
Was expecting the weather to be 7-8 degrees so wore this jacket plus thin long sleeve base layer. The temperature quickly dropped to 1-2 degree’s so it was zip to the top and all was well. Was kitted head to foot in gallibier (inc bib tights and light-winter gloves) and remained warm for the 3 hour winter ride.
Only comment to make: the rear pockets are unusually high, making it a little harder than usual to get things from the pockets whilst moving. I lost a gel.
I wear medium, 71kg 5’10” 38” chest is perfect
Ride on.

This an excellent jacket for the late autumn/winter wear. Worn a couple of times. Once during quite heavy rain. No problems. Warm and dry.

This is one serious bit of kit.I was out in a typical Irish day in December,5 deg, biting wind, showers, glimpses of sunshine & a wet road. The jacket kept me super warm from the get go.I just had a dryflo base layer underneath & I’ve never felt so toasty on a spin.It handled the showers easily & has great storage pockets for your grub & spares. Its design is cool & looks way more expensive than it is.So if you’re on the hunt for a winter jacket for this cold moist part of the planet, this for me is the number one.Bring on the elements:)
Duncan Macleod (verified owner) –
Every bit as good as the reviews suggest. Both wind and water resistance are good but at the same time breathability is good too when working hard. Nice high collar, tight cuffs and the dropped tail is great in the wet. Don’t let the lack of magazine reviews put you off. This is well worth getting, especially at this price. Punches well above it’s price point. Invest in this rather than a new turbo…

I have been wearing a ten quid chinese jacket that the zip has gone on and been warmer.

Fantastic bit of kit! I bought the large (39″ chest) and it fits perfectly. It kept the rain out this morning on my cycle into work – and kept me really warm without getting sweaty (was 7 degrees). Love it! This is now my main jacket for winter – I will wear the Tourmalet rain jacket if the rain is really bad – otherwise this is main jacket.

I was searching for years and years and spent too much for a better winter jacket that keep me warm an early morning freezing temp ride but failed miserably, until I discovered Galibier in the websites, so I gave it a try. Got the mistral pro three months ago because I am tired of being cold period! The results, Whallla!!! Its magic! I am so glad that I did it! No more worries riding through freezing cold weather. Amazing product! Must have if you are tired of riding and being cold. Buy it now! You won’t regret it guaranteed.

The Mistral II Foul weather jacket is off the scale good. Somehow it manages to keep you warm, dry and upbeat whatever the weather throws at you. If anything it can be a little too warm for spirited rides when the temperature’s above 5C – but that’s a nice problem I guess. This outperforms clothing 4x the price – awesome!

This is an updated review – I got my mistral 2 back around November and was impressed. It’s now March and it’s been through the worst of the winter. Just recently it’s coped well with the Beast from the east, and today, -4 C, with vertical hail, sleet and 40 mph winds. It stood up as my top layer, w just a merino ls base layer, and summer jersey beneath. Despite ridiculous wind and the hail, never felt the chill. It maybe needs a wash now (!) but got to say that this is easily the most impressive road cycling jacket I’ve ever owned. Thanks Galibier.

I’ve had my jacket for two years now. After two rides around 0 degrees at the weekend I’ve been reminded how brilliant it is. My companions were sporting four or five layers on top but I was fine with just a long-sleeved undervest and my Mistral.
In warmer conditions I sometimes have to let a bit of air in for a few minutes by undoing the zip a few inches but this is problem-free with the quality zip and puller. I also like the draught-proof cuffs and the pocket that are big enough to root around in with gloves on.
There have been the odd disconcerting noises from the shoulder seams when I have pulled the jacket on or off too hard but everything has stayed intact.
The new pro version of the jacket looks to have some useful extra features but this version is so good that I couldn’t justify trading up.

My first purchase from Galibier but won’t be my last! I have now worn the jacket for several rides in single figure temperatures with just a technical bases layer and the jacket has lived up to its claims. Accurate sizing, great fit and excellent customer service.

I wasnt convinced that you only needed to wear a long-sleeved baselayer under this garment, but 3 mths of testing it and I’m please to say my concerns were groundless.Have ridden in pretty much every condition the Welsh winter can muster this year and the jacket is holding up well. I’m still yet to double-up underneath and while it might feel a little cold zipping it back up after the coffee stop, you soon warm up again.A comfortable ,cosy winter jacket that even gets some admiring comments off my fellow club members…..sorted.

We’ve been having some ice cold weather here in New York. I wore the jacket with just one base layer underneath in -6C (20F) with wind chills that made the real feel -8C (17F). At no point during the 2hr ride was my core cold. I also had on the Mistral Membrane tights on, which kept my legs nice and warm. My toes were another story though. Fantastic form fit/race cut. I wear the Medium at 74Kgs.

Hi
Thanks for the quick delivery,it arrived just before Christmas. Now about the jacket, the fit was perfect & the material feels nice to the touch. I’ve only used a few times.2-5 Deg Celsius and windy, wearing just a short sleeve under the jacket and i felt comfortable. Really happy with the jacket so far, time will tell about durability, but the jacket feels well made. Thanks also for the neck warmer that arrived with jacket. Yours truly, Richard Williams. PS I will be buying more from Galibier in the future, good quality for a reasonable price.

Further to my review on the 23rd October 2016, i have the need to downgrade the rating, based solely on the fact that i have still only worn it a couple of times and cannot see me wearing it again.
As i said before it is a great windstopper and even on easy rides it keeps me very hot, which is the problem. I said i would be happy to wear it in freezing temperatures, which i would. However i would not be cycling when there was ice on the road.
Therefore if you are a naturally warm person, this jacket is certainly not for you. It is too good at keeping you warm.

As usual with Galibier, delivery was spot on, my son had recommended I get this jacket and I’m really happy that he did. Used for a 75km ride over just a base layer in ambient temp of 12deg C, very warm, as the temp dropped at the end of the ride to 9deg C I became more and more comfortable, so suggest this jacket comes into its own as the temp drops below 10deg C. As a guide I’m a 97kg male with a 44″ chest, 36″ waist & 5′ 10″ tall and ordered the XXL, the fit is generous & I could have got away with an XL for a racier fit. Brilliant winter jacket. Also thanks for the extra’s, what a treat.

Switzerland. November. 5 degrees.
Even at 70kmh downhill, I was toasty warm…
This IS Windproof.
I felt overdressed, maybe I need to wait until it gets a bit colder 😉

Unbelievable jacket, excellent fit and the quality and finish is fantastic. Have used the jacket for a few weeks now and it impresses me every time I use it. In the dry or heavy rain it always seems to keep me at the right temperature and even after a 3 hour cycle in heavy rain I was still warm and dry at the end.
Andrew Farrell –
Bought this jacket a few months ago and got to wear it for the first time today one word FANTASTIC, on a miserable, cold and damp day I was lovely, dry and warm all round and highly recommend
Elijah (verified owner) –
Fantastic piece of garment. My first reaction when I saw it was that there was no way this garment would keep me warm as it’s thin and soft to touch. Boy was I wrong. It keeps you warm and some more. Add in to the equation it’s a lovely looking jacket and it’s been sold at a fantastic price and you have a full house. Next up on my list is the tourmalet. And then probably the foul weather gilet.
Lastly I’d like to say a big thank you to Miles. Customer service is simply A1. He answers every and any question/query you send His way no matter how annoying it might be. Very swiftly too if I might add

1. Shipping costs – I live in Slovakia and the shipping costs = 0 (perfect)
2. Cut – excelent fit (I am 178cm / 77kg and I ordered L)
3. Warm? – I used it in the cold morning (+9 C) and with one short sleeve base layer + one long sleeve summer function tshirt – perfect.
4. Rain? – I alreday tested it with short rain (temperature about +14 C) and I had no problems with it. Rain lasted about 15 minutes, afterwards the roads were wet, but the jacket definitely could handle it all.
I am sattisfied till now. I hope I can train with this jacket and meriono base layer even in winter (about +1 – +9 C).

This jacket is incredible, as was the service from galibier. It’s not marketed as fully waterproof, so I don’t expect it to be, but the choice of materials and DWR treatment should keep out the worst when I don’t want to wear a Gore Tex Active. The quality appears on a par with Gore too, and I have no reason to believe longevity will be any different. Now I have found the brand, I will definitely consider other items.

Nearly lost for word’s on just how great this minstrel jacket is rode in near gale force wind and horizontal rain on the top of the north Yorkshire moors for couple of hours not only was I dry but was a little on the warm side I have had many jackets for alot more money how to do galibier make a profit on this quality simple great jacket thank you

Bought this jacket a while back was really impressed wearing it in winter very warm but never really tried it in the rain until the other day was very dissapointed only travelled 9 mile and was soaked to the skin inside not what I expected from the reviews I had read if I had known it wasn’t waterproof I wouldn’t of bought it sorry guys only trying to be honest I have a lot of your stuff and it’s very good
(Hello robert, we dont sell it as waterproof, it is designed to keep you warm in all weathers. Please check care instructions supplied as it may need retreated)

I have been using this jacket for 1 month so far. Has been perfect for temps less than 10deg. Very comfy, well made, couldn’t be happier. What a great piece of kit.
Huw Thomas (verified owner) –
Not much to add to all the other great reviews. Excellent jacket and I’ve persuaded a few friends to buy these also.

Glad of my jacket this morning, with a ls wool base layer, just right when every other bit of me was chilly, appreciated the long sleeves and comfy high neck.
David Gray (verified owner) –
This was brought for me as a birthday present and it is the best jacket I have had. Coupled with the Mistral bib tights it has been my go wear since. so much so I have ordered a set of summer shorts too before they go out of stock.
Ollie ARTHUR (verified owner) –
I have this jacket almost a month now and it is a very a very good jacket, Every description it states, rain, wind, cold protection and comfort is 100% Service is excellent and superb. I would very highly recommend

When it looks this great, feels this great and fits this great it sure is going to be great. My lifelong friend.
Jack Sullivan (verified owner) –
I can’t really say anything else that hasn’t been said by the glowing reviews above, but this really is a top, top jacket. By far the best item of cold weather gear I own. It makes any weather seem fine and the fit is brilliant! I pity all the riders I see out on the roads with poor-fitting jackets flapping in the wind, especially knowing the mistral probably coat half as much. Owned for over a year and i love it.
Gavin Clarke (verified owner) –
Just done 3.5 hours in the wind and rain, home warm and dry with just a short slieve base layer under my jacket. I wear it every day.
Nick Topley (verified owner) –
Simply superb, believe the hype. Now how can I sneak a blue and a red one into the house unnoticed!
Anthony (verified owner) –
This is a great bit of kit. And quite remarkable for the price. Easily competes with jackets x2 as much.
And the customer service is the best I’ve had, hands-down. Dispatch was super speedy. And when I enquired about returning to try an alt size, I was sent a second jacket (alt size) free, so I could compare and return the one I didn’t want. How good is that?
Jamie monaghan –
Great service and amazing value what’s not to like. This was my 1st purchase from galibier will not be my last
paraic mannion (verified owner) –
Great customer service, good performing jacket, some tweaks to the fit and its all you ever need to buy.
Overall it’s a good performing jacket. As the name suggests it’ll keep you warm right down to the lowest of temperatures even when it’s raining / sleeting. I’ve been using it all this winter and have no complaints performance wise. However I think two tweaks to the fit and the jacket would compete with the best of winter jackets. 1. The sleeves are too tight to fit down over gloves, so when it is raining heavily water just fills up in your gloves. If the sleeves were flared like the Sportful jackets or the elastic had a bit more give it would solve this. 2. The tail / pockets are too long / big. Pockets are huge and you could fit everything you ever need in them. But I think they are too big and result in a lot of bulking. I’m 5ft 8” and 63kg bought the medium after trying a small, the tail just drops way down the back and the fit isn’t tight enough around the waist so its not very complementing. I appreciate its long to protect from road spray but why not do like other manufactures and provide a foldable tail as most people use some form of mudguards anyway.
Overall it’s a very tough jacket, really warm and good value for money. I am a big fan of Galibier kit. If the fit tweaks were sorted I’d buy again but would not in its current form.
As ever customer service was top notch.
Loic –
This jacket is truly fantastic. I’ve been riding it almost daily for two months now, for training rides and commutes. The mistral + a good base layer is really all you need for most weather conditions – rainy or cold and dry days, it’ll do it all and keep you dry and warm. The value is unreal 🙂

I bought the Mistral Foul II jacket as a Xmas present back in early December so could only used from Boxing day onwards and it is a fantastic bit of kit great price and great fit. For rides when the temperature is 4′ or above it is ideal with a thin summer base layer if the weather is really “Baltic” I would recommend the COLOMBIÈRE winter jacket, which I purchased last Xmas, or use a Marino base layer with the Mistral Foul II jacket. Two brilliant bits of kit from a great company who have a really refreshing attitude
Gary (verified owner) –
Simply fantastic. Great quality, great fit and great price.
I don’t normally write reviews but thought this was such a good product i had to say something.
Steve Scarr (verified owner) –
Its very difficult to find something new to say about the is wonderful jacket. I’ve worn it recently in temperatures down to -7 and it constantly surprises me…Every time I think that its either too wet or too cold just for this jacket and a base-layer I find myself warm and comfortable…but never too warm. Truly a great garment and galibier are fast becoming my “go to” manufacturer. I’ve also got the foul weather gilet (as well as other bits and bobs) and that’s equally impressive.
However galilbier, being from Yorkshire, I wont be offering you any more money ;0)
bigpattison (verified owner) –
First wet ride to nite.was out for 3 hours plus in the rain and wind.was warm and toasty on my body.legs were cold but I’ve just ordered the mistral tights.if there half as good as the jacket then worth every penny.when I got back in the house I was born dry under my jacket.only had my long sleeve galibier base layer under my jacket and was warm and toasty for it be nealy 0 degrees.iam always cold but not with this jacket on.so £72 is a bargain in my book.hope this helps others make there mind up.

First wear of the Mistral Foul II jacket and a Barrier III gloves on a 5 degree ride today. Both were brilliant and for someone who usually suffers in the cold I’ve never felt warmer. I’m a 40inch chest with quite broad shoulders and the size large fitted perfectly – fitted but not restrictive. I also received coneents from friends that the jacket looked great. Buy one you won’t regret it
Brendan Mulhall (verified owner) –
Bought this Jacket recently, it’s great in the cold weather that we have being experiencing in the south east of Ireland over the past few weeks.
I love the deep pockets on the back of the jacket. Looking forward to wearing it in the rain !!
Ian Smith (verified owner) –
Bought last year and cycling in Aberdeenshire through the winter certainly tests the claims of this jacket.
In short it’s worth twice the money being charged and is a staple of my winter riding gear and gets commented on regularly too.
Real quality piece of kit !

Ok, so I’m one of those who enjoys the process of researching a purchase almost as much as actually using it, its just who I am. The need to select a new winter jacket provided me with hours of glorious trudging through shopping sites, magazine reviews and blogs which all came down to one fundamental question: Do I want to spend over £200? Once I was confident that I didn’t, the only remaining quandary was which Galibier Jacket to buy, In the end the Mistral seemed to meet my requirements best and I haven’t looked back, its been warn through a 2 hour rain ride, a commute (21 miles) at -4 and most things in between and has performed faultlessly throughout, If you are in the market and wondering if you really must spend a kings ransom on some Italian foppery to stay warm and dry, stop reading this and click ‘Buy’, your search is over.
Just a word on sizing, I’m 5’6″ and 67Kgs, Small all day long.
R.McCann (verified owner) –
Amazing product, stands up in the cold and the rain through the entire Irish winter, looks the part too
Libby (verified owner) –
I absolutely love this jacket. Out today in 1 degree C and no chill at all with a base layer underneath. Could easily wear it on its own a few degrees warmer. Fab massive pockets for carrying everything you need on a long ride, love the cuffs for extra warmth, and good in a bit of rain too. Stands up to the Scottish winter no problem. The Mistral is an absolute steal, price-wise. Size S fits me (female size 10) nicely – bit of room, but that’s where the base layer goes. Fantastic.
Derren Sarginson (verified owner) –
Super quick delivery. I’m 6 foot 2 inches tall 189kg average build and the XL fits really well. Not super close and clinging but comfortably over a base layer. Really like the inner cuff detail and deep pockets. Yet to wear it out in the weather but finish and fit is superb!
Any chance of doing this product in some higher visibilty colours? Green would go great with my Cannondale Synapse!

My first purchase from Galibier and I can’t praise them enough. Ordered a size M and it arrived within 48’hrs. Unfortunately I needed a small so sent it back for an exchange. This was Wednesday and I needed the jacket for Saturday. I emailed Galibier to explain that I was returning and they agreed to send the replacement even before receiving my return!. This was recvd on the Friday morning. You can’t ask for more than that.
The actual jacket looks amazing. Quality is superb, now just to test it in the cold today!
I will return to this supplier in the future.
Well done Galibier.

Ordered this jacket on sunday, recieved on tuesday with much appreciated free gift(thanks Galibier) First ride out today in a very cold 2degrees. Did 60 miles with just a base layer underneath, must say as a 51 year old male who has cycled all my life, this is without doubt the best jacket i have ever used!! Incredible value at £72, A real world cycling jacket< at a real world price. Well done Galibier.

MISTRAL FOUL II WEATHER JACKET, Arrived within 2 days of ordering. Wore the jacket with a merino wool BaBa base layer on a cold 1 degree, 6HR morning ride with a 10NW wind.
I found throughout the ride that I was quite cold, and unable to keep my upper body warm. Would not recommend using below 4 degrees without a good layer up in place, anything above 4 degrees then a lightweight base layer is perfect.
I sweat a lot, no matter how short or long I ride and can honestly say this jacket has great wicking qualities. It has kept my body temperature just right, normally I would get to the coffee stop soaking in sweat, not with this “jacket”.
Would highly recommend, I have a wardrobe full of various cycling jackets and can honestly that this one is the best out of them all.
Have just ordered the COLOMBIÈRE WINTER JACKET for extreme cold wether that we have in Scotland.
I would also like to say a big thank you to Myles McCorry for his positive feedback that I have received concerning various garments…
This is your 1 Stop Garment Shop for cycling apparel theres no need to spend £100s when you can get better at Galibier for a fraction of the price.
Cant wait for the spring and summer collection. will recommending Galibier to all my cycling friends.
Andrew Farrow (verified owner) –
Most expensive bit of cycling clothing that I have ever bought, but this is worth every penny.First time that i wore it was going up Galibier itself when it was -2 at the top. A fabulous jacket. Equally at home on a cold windy ride in North Wales today. I wear it with a thin jersey on underneath and its warm as toast. Snug collar. Arms are just the right length. Zipped pocket at the back. I liked it so much I bought the waterproof jacket to use as a shell on cold descents. Forget the bigger brands – buy this. Theses people make good stuff.
Hywel Kirwan (verified owner) –
Another excellent buy from Galibier. This is far superior to the Gabba and a fraction of the cost! I don’t know how they do it. You only need a long sleeved baselayer underneath and it will take whatever the weather throws at it, including the rain! This is by far my favourite bit of kit and I will be buying a second one, essential bit of kit if you cycle all year round. Fit is superb and close so no drag or billowing on descents etc.

Going by 1st impressions and 1st ride.
Having just returned to the UK from 2 months in America where the temprature was in excess of 30oC, it became apparent that i needed a Winter jacket and quickly and came across the company by chance, had a quick look and was drawn to this jacket due to the black and red colour scheme. One that i seem to have adopted for my cycling clobber and bike without much thought.
Ordered on the Thursday hoping it would arrive by the Monday, but no it arrived Saturday. Very Impressed.
As Sunday is my “Recovery” session i decided to head out a bit earlier than usual 0700 to see how good this jacket would be in the coming months. It was 7oC and 12Mph westerly wind, set off on a 30 miles steady ride, my thinking was that if i was cold i could always speed up and work harder as all i had on my top half was a base layer and this jacket.
10 mins in and i was more than happy with the fit, the 3 back pockets are huge and easily accessible with gloved (thin) hands, the smaller zipped pocket is big enough for ID, bank card and Asthma pump.
By 30 mins i was thinking that i was getting hot, too hot for an easy ride so i unzipped the jacket but then it became more of a sail, catching the wind and i quickly cooled. Clearly it is an excellent wind stopper.
Overall I am more than happy with the price, fit, quality and delivery speed but time will tell whether it was really a good investment. I recon that i’ll be OK to go riding down to freezing and still be hot enough in just a base layer and this jacket.
Richard C –
Quality piece of kit at a great price. On the coldest day of the year this year, with a severe wind chill, this jacket along with a baselayer kept me nice and warm.
David Ross (verified owner) –
Glad i found out about this brand. Jacket is a great fit and very warm.
I am a 42 chest broad shoulders and XL is a nice close fit. Dont be afraid to drop the guys an email all questions answered quickly and i even had a free pair of gloves thrown in with my first order.

As GOOD as it gets – Fit Block and Breathe in a automagic combo no overheating nor chill out. Today at +15 just a sleevless mesh baselayer and thin armvarmers under for comfort. 🙂
Graeme (verified owner) –
The best winter cycling jacket I have owned. Rain, wind and cold are just not a problem when wearing this jacket. I wouldn’t go out without it. It is almost perfect.
If there is just one thing I could change though – I’d make the front about 2 or 3 centimetres longer. This isn’t a big issue though because when you’re on the bike and in riding position, the short(ish) front isn’t really noticeable.
Great to see such a good jacket at a reasonable price.
John (verified owner) –
I have this jacket two weeks now and have done 4 rides . One was a 1h 45m ride in the rain and i stayed dry and warm. Another was in a freezing -1 and with an extra short sleeve base layer on i still kept warm
I am skinny and love the fit of the jacket, no drafts at the neck or cuffs. Great looking jacket too much nicer than the photo suggests everyone needs a jacket like this.5/5.
Stephen Goan –
I’ve been riding around Shanghai as low as minus six degrees with icy winds and this jacket is more than up to the job. With only 2 layers on underneath it, I didn’t feel a bit of the cold conditions. Have had it out in the rain too and the water just beads on the surface. Have this in you kit wardrobe and the decision to get out and ride in the depths of winter so much easier. 5/5.
Alan B –
Top quality! Great fit, accurate sizing chart, really excellent in the recent wet and windy weather.
I have ‘big brand’ gear and galibier is at least on par with them at a much much better price.
Liam Egan (verified owner) –
Seriously cold (-1C) this morning heading out on the club spin. Brought along a gilet and pair of arm warmers just in case but they stayed in the pockets. A Canterbury base layer underneath plus a Grip Grab balaclava worked fine. Weird that my feet and hands stayed warm too for the first time in months. Looking forward to testing the Mistral in some wet weather 😉
Paul (verified owner) –
Bought this having found it amongst various winter jacket reviews and seeing the overwhelmingly positive response. I try to stay away from the ‘Castelli’ crowd and be a bit different in all of my cycling and this fitted my ‘spec’ perfectly. Sizing was spot on. The fit is great. I like the fleecy neck particularly and the tights cuffs are very functional. I deals with light rain no problem. Overall a superb garment. Highly recommended
Nigel BAXTER –
After years of using (3) Pace jackets (warmest you’ll ever wear- but NOT waterproof) I took the plunge..another jacket she asked me-Whatever for? Well actually to give me a grin ear to ear every time I go out wearing it..Most Frenchies wear team kit as they are all members of a club…such a pity guys (dommage) you’re missing out on the ironically named Galibier. Keeps me warm, dry and smiling.
Kev Wyke (verified owner) –
Well the weather today was foul, cold windy and that persistent rain the north west of England specialises in. It was my first ride in the Mistral and it didn’t let me down. I was weirdly warm and dry…weird because you expect a certain level of discomfort in bad weather, where were the usual drips down the elbows, cold dribbles down the chest? Well they just didn’t happen. I was as comfortable as it is possible to be, and as an earlier reviewer said I think I owe you more money (particularly as you added socks and a buff alike to the order – really appreciated). Excellent Jacket, amazing value… #thatisall
David Baron (verified owner) –
Amazing jacket. I thought the castelli Gabba was good, this is better.
Clive C (verified owner) –
I bought this jacket back in October and have worn it every weekend since, it has taken all the Sperrin mountain weather has thrown at spat at it, and won the battle every time, you only need a base layer underneath and your set for a warm, dry days biking in any conditions, I saw in a recent review in a magazine where it received 9/10, now I don’t know what warrants a 10, but I would sure like to see the jacket that tops this one for value and performance
David Holland (verified owner) –
I’ve now worn this jacket in all types of winter weather and it hasn’t failed me. It’s kept me warm and dry in everything from torrential rain to zero degrees. On top of this it’s a well cut neat looking jacket. It shouldn’t tick all the boxes at this price but it does. A fantastic garment.
Kevan Day (verified owner) –
Jacket turned up a few days after placing order nicely packed with a well appreciated free gift of a buff. Worn a couple of times on 1 hour commute with long sleeve base layer and gilet, temperature hovering just above freezing and felt very comfortable. Today was more of a test, nearly 5 hour ride off-road with damp and windy conditions to start with followed by sunny spells. As expected my base layer was soaked but not once did i feel cold. Very impressed, jacket seems to shrug off wind and rain. I am 5´9 and just under 12 stone and medium fits almost perfectly. Think this is going to get plenty of use in next few months.
Mark (verified owner) –
I was in the market for a decent jacket to get me through these winter months and the Galibier Mistral came to my attention in a recent article on winter jackets that are currently on the market.
I tried the Gabba 2 as that appeared to be one of the market leaders but I struggled with the fit and even the XL showed off the extra timber I gained over Christmas unfortunately.
After reading the description of the Mistral and the reviews here, I took the plunge and placed an order last Thursday, item arrived on Saturday.
The jacket was well packaged & included a Galibier cap (thanks guys!); I have to say the detail on the jacket is very good and the quality is excellent, unbelievable at this price and the fit is bang on (I went by the size guide and a Large is perfect if you’re a 38-40″ chest).
My first ride wearing the jacket was on my commute to & from work today, no rain so I can’t comment on its waterproof abilities but with only a base layer on underneath this jacket definitely keeps out the cold (5° today) and full marks for breathability as I was surprisingly bone dry underneath.
A colleague at work was impressed and will be placing an order for the Elysee gloves & Ardennes scarf. I can only highly recommend the Mistral jacket and I’m now deciding on whether to buy the Tourmalet or Colombiere next.
Gillian (verified owner) –
This appealed to me as I wanted a jacket which would cope with the chance of rain without having to wear a number of layers which always made me overheat and never really kept the rain out anyway.
I had my doubts about just wearing a base layer underneath when I wore for the first time last weekend in very cold and wet conditions. It was however very comfortable and warm throughout and was very impressed with the waterproofing. On a day when conditions got so bad that the club run decided to turn and go home early as feet and hands turned numb, my upper body remained dry and reasonably warm.
The next day temperatures were marginally better and drier and I was super cosy.
If I had any negatives it would be good to have some female cut kit or perhaps an xs size. I’m no waif and there was still plenty of room in the small.
The surprise gift was also much appreciated.
I have several pieces of Galibier kit and will continue to recommend.
Peter (verified owner) –
Got this as a Christmas present for myself from my wife and now worn a few times. Medium is a well-cut close but not tight fit (1.78m and 67kg). Pockets are the perfect size, deep but easy to access with gloves. Cuffs and neck make a good seal against cold air and the arms are long enough even for my gibbon-like proportions. Haven’t worn jacket below zero yet but it is a very good insulator as my thin base layer been soaked by the end of each ride; although there was no boil in the bag feeling as I was riding. Very pleased with this jacket.
Richard Collier (verified owner) –
My first item of clothing from Glibber, it certainly won’t be my last!
It does what it says ‘on the tin’ at nigh on half the price of its ‘big name’ competitors.
My only comment is – take your measurements and note the actual garment sizing chart – I bought the XL because I’m so used to having to ‘size up’ (I’m 6’2″ with a 40″ chest), so it’s a little bit spacious when I’d prefer a racier fit. The quality however is excellent.
Next on my list is the Colombière jacket – I’ll be getting the L this time

Great fit
1st ride today Sunday 10th Jan 2016
Looked at jackets twice the price but kept coming back to this
Didn’t want the same as others in our group
Love the jacket
Ok no rain this morning but a fresh & windy morning
Never felt cold or never felt sweaty once
Regulates you brilliant
If it’s as good in rain this jacket will be perfect at a perfect price

Bought this item based on reviews in a cycling mag. After first ride wearing it I was over the moon, jacket was great and comparable to a Castelli Mortirolo I have which is twice the price.
However, the second time I put it on the seam on one of the arms started to come away! You get what you pay for is my advice to anyone looking to purchase items from this Company.

Beautiful jacket. It’s the attention to detail which outs this jacket above the rest for me. I’ve been through several winter jackets now and invariably having issues with zips, breathability, water resistance – of all the jackets I’ve tried this is by far the best as regards all of those areas. Gorgeous looking piece of gear also.
Chris –
Undoubtedly the best bang-for-buck water/windproof jersey/jacket type-thing out there. Kept me bone dry and warm in freezing torrential rain, water just beading up and running off! Wish I could say the same about my other (non-Galibier) kit. Bundled musette & socks also decent quality & much appreciated! With a couple more colour options this would obliterate the market.
Marcus Cromie (verified owner) –
Having read several reviews on this jacket and Galibier. I had to see what all the fuss was about. Service was superb with a little surprise and a lovely note from staff reassuring me if I had any trouble to get in contact. I unwrapped my jacket and tried it on. I was impressed by the fit and the quality of the garment. Now having tried it out several times in windy, damp and coldish conditions I am pleased to report it is nothing short of Superb. The feel, the fit and ease of zipper and pocket access all great. I remained warm and dry on every run. I will be returning to Galibier from now on. Excellant.
Georgios Efstathiou (verified owner) –
great jacket! very warm and keeps the wet of you. Highly recommended!
Will (verified owner) –
This jacket is superb! The conditions today (6C, very wet, very windy) would not have suited my gabba for a long steady ride (110km solo in the lanes) but even when my winter boots eventually got squelchy my torso was still fine. I was only wearing a LS base layer. 1.81m; 74kg; average reach; size M is a perfect snug fit – no flapping, no draught. If you’re riding in wet, windy conditions (temp 4-10C) this jacket just works!
Jim Cunningham (verified owner) –
To be honest, I thought it would be a pretty good jacket, BUT and you can see it’s a big but … WOW, the jacket beats my gabba hands down.
Have just done an hour hill repeat in torrential rain … Wore nothing underneath (very mild today 9 deg) BONE DRY
Galibier were fantastic, send a little extra in the way of a pair socks (Thanks)
With this level of service and quality I’ll be using Galibier as my go to product and I’ll be telling anyone who’ll listen
Save cash and don’t compromise on quality

Unbeatable. I’ve worn this jacket in rain, wind, wind & rain, snow and a bit of a storm and this jacket stood up to them all. At one point it was raining so heavy my overshoes were filling with water but not a drop got through the jacket. Descents in storm force winds and I didn’t feel a thing. Worn with just a long sleeve base layer underneath and I haven’t once overheated or been cold. If you cycle in terrible weather do yourself a favour and get a mistral

I have had this jacket for the last 3 months and wear it twice a day every day for the purposes of commuting. It gets little care and attention and still looks like the day it arrived. The fitting is exceptional with the front shorter than the back to prevent the material gathering when on the bike. Top notch garment.

Received today, worn tonight on club run,5 deg. with the wind more like 2 deg.wore a technical long sleeve underneath, very very good bit of kit, blokes behind me remarked although the jacket is black I was easy seen with the 3M strips on the rear, front of baselayer was damp as was the inside of the jacket, but I do overheat quickly but at no time did I feel cold
The jacket looks too short off the bike & I thought it was tight on the shoulders, getting on the bike this jacket came into its own, there is no way wind is going to get into it,can’t wait to go in the rain
Buy it,don’t hesitate,just buy it

This is my default for winter. Had it out in the p**sing rain for 3 hours today, and although the rain eventually came through, I was comfortable and warm. Can’t ask for better.
I had reservations – it doesn’t fit me properly. I’m 5’9″ and stocky. Got a L to fit my chest and shoulders, but because of this, it’s not as tightly cut as I’d like. That and I have to roll up the sleeves for them to fit properly. I hesitantly kept it, and tried it out. Went out on a freezing morning and was warm as toast. Been out in the disgusting winter weather we’ve been getting in Northern Ireland, and it has been unreal. A great jacket, but definitely made for more typical cyclist shapes.

This is a great Jacket. Did an MTB sportive for 4 hours in Wind and Rain on my 2nd spin with The Mistral. I was warm all day and it kept the heavy rain out no problem. Its very warm for this time of year, but with the zip open you cool down fast. Looking forward to cold winter mornings now I have this jacket. Great service from Galibier as well.

Worn for first time today, excellent chill protection with only a base layer under it, kept me warm early in the ride and didn’t overheat 3 hrs later when the chill lifted. Easily worth £100+ compared to other competitors on the market. Great piece of kit and a must for winter training. Well done Galibier.

Excellent jacket, well made, very comfortable, great pockets and reflectives on the rear. Front zipper is very easy to pull up/down with gloved hands. The outer shell of the jacket just beads the water up beautifully. Not sure what it is like in proper heavy rain as I haven’t had the Jacket long enough yet to test that. One thing that was immediately obvious was that it is not a thermal jacket, Galibier claim “It is a game changer. Wear with just a long sleeve base layer from 2 to 15 degrees.” but in my limited time with the jacket I certainly would not want to ride in 2 degree temps with just a base layer, so the following morning I also wore my Gore Thermal vest underneath. Great jacket though I would definitely recommend, just layer up accordingly.

Nice fit, well made and it works! Felt warm today regardless of what the dark clouds chucked at us.

Have this jacket a while, but 4 hours in the rain at the weekends sportive, eventually got wet, but as you said and no chills on the chest. The whole run I was content and happy which in a pissing grey Sunday isn’t too bad. 🙂

Sold my gabba to get this, excellent bit of kit!, outperforms the gabba in all areas in my opinion, easily worth twice the price, its really simple, you need this for autumn/winter/spring!

I am not a fan of cycling in the rain, any jacket I have gotten, either lets in the rain, or else I am soaked from sweat in it. With this jacket, I have been out in Irish weather, meaning, the sun is splitting the stones, so I unzip a bit to breathe and it doesn’t get wet inside. Then come the heavy downpours, my riding mates are amazed to see the water bead right off the jacket. I got home from a 2.5 hour spin, and my shoes were soaking, I’m skinny so get cold easy, I was dry and warm and all I wore was a vest inside it. I will wear a base layer inside it in the colder weather, I cannot say enough good things about this jacket-thanks!

So pleased! I wanted a jacket like this for a year and it is great . My medium is a good fit for my 89cm chest. Full force gale yesterday and I was warm. Rain this morning for the last 30 mins and, again warm. Wish the sun would appear but I’m ready and armoured if not.

I have a mark1 Castelli Gabba and was going to buy a new one, but was recommended to check this out. I have only had it for a week and a half but am very delighted. Warmer than the gabba in the rain. I’m 40″ chest and the large is a super fit. Have spread the word among my club, so if any buy it, I will be expecting discount of my shorts galibier!

What can I say….if felt invincible yesterday. 3 rain showers in a 70km training spin and arrived home smiling. Feel like I need to send Galibier more money for this jacket.
