Description

The Mistral Pro Cycling Jacket is your ideal companion for cool and wet conditions. With its understated design juxtaposed with a striking orange rear stripe and reflective highlights, it ensures both style and visibility. Built to shield you from the harshest weather, be it driving rain, cold, or fierce winds, the Mistral Pro promises body-wide protection.

Its dual-layer system is a testament to thoughtful engineering, permitting riders to adjust their temperature as weather patterns shift. The offset zip is specially designed to avoid overlapping, ensuring smooth ventilation. For more intense exertions, the outer membrane can be fully unzipped, with the inner insulating layer preventing any unwanted chills or drafts. The meticulous construction comprises 26 pattern pieces, 11 separate components, and five different textiles, resulting in a close-fitting and streamlined silhouette.

The primary membrane material is paired with a lightly brushed inner fabric, offering enhanced warmth. Furthermore, the Pro version now features a waterproof pocket for your phone. In line with our commitment to the environment, the membrane fabric undergoes an eco-friendly DWR treatment to improve water resistance, and the inner lining consists of 57% recycled polyester.

Bought the Orange version in January this year ( lucky me had some Galibier Christmas vouchers )
I’ve worn this at least once a week in varying winter conditions 0 deg C to 10 deg C with a long sleeved base layer, and found to be excellent at temp control, and keeping out the wind . The double front zipped layers are the key to the jacked doing exactly what is supposed to do- also good sized rear pockets. Would highly recommend . Size S fits my 36 inch chest size perfectly

Perfection. Arrived quickly and fit was perfect. I’m 6’2 and 89kg and got an XL which is very slightly on the large side but I wouldn’t change it. We went out in 3 degrees, real feel was -3 with wind. I was toasty, no heating problems. Also got the winter gloves and if anything I was taking them off to cool down. Kindly Galibier also sent me some merino winter socks I had not ordered and while my buddies were struggling I was fine, could not recommend them highly enough. Most of my gear is ENDURA but this gear is on par for half the price. The lads I was riding with all subsequently have ordered, exceptional quality, fit and performance. Could not recommend highly enough

I’ve had mine for a couple of months now and there’s hardly been a ride I haven’t worn it. This is the best top for autumn days bar none. Comfortable, breathable, but warm when the temperatures drop. I have had the standard Mistral for a couple of years and loved it, but this is even better and well worth the few extra £ it costs. You can happily use it with or without a base layer, and having the option to open the front while still having the inner zip done up makes it so flexible. I’ve ridden in temps down to 3° with just a summer vest base layer underneath and it’s been plenty warm enough. Honestly I can’t recommend this top enough, I might even have to get a second one in the alternative orange/ red colour! I’ve got the XXL and it fits my stocky 6ft2″ frame and 50″ chest just fine!

Since receiving this jacket I’ve been out on a couple of club rides in close to freezing temperatures with a lot lower wind chill factor. I was dubious about heading out in just the jacket and a thin base layer. My concerns were without foundation. My core temperature remained comfortable and consistent throughout.

I’m 5’10” and 75kg. The large is a perfect fit.

The material quality is impressive although I can’t comment on long term durability having only been out on a couple of rides but I’d be surprised if turns out to be an issue when compared to other garments in my cycling wardrobe.

The initiative design is well thought out and works well rather than a faddy designer indulgence. The aesthetics are stylishly understated which suits me.

Initial impressions; very good jacket at a great price. My more expensive Italian winter jacket has now been relegated….need I say more!

Keep up the good work Galibier!

I got the Mistral Pro 2 having read reviews. Tried both small & medium (I’m 178cm/65kilo) and both fitted but the medium, a little longer in the body, suited better.
I’ve worn it in near freezing with just a long-sleeved base layer & been perfectly comfortable and it performed brilliantly in rain. A little warmer and a sleeveless base or just vented.
All in all, a fantastic addition to my kit. It means I don’t have to spend ages working out what to wear between October and March – I simply reach for the Mistral.

It might just be the one thing that makes my turbo trainer obsolete.

This is my “all winter” jacket, the only one I need from below freezing to above 10C. I have a size M, I’m 182cm and around 73kg.
I tend to run cold, especially hands and feet, so winter means warm boots (Shimano) and always gloves. Before this jacket, cold weather meant multiple extra layers, but now it’s more like this:
At 10C and above, a short sleeve or sleeveless base, thin “spring/autumn” gloves and venting. I’m not very good at venting; Ifni do the inside layer keeps me from getting too cold, too little and I don’t boil in the bag.
At 5C, I need thicker gloves. I’ll usually opt for a long sleeve, winter weight base layer, often merino. No extra layers needed but I’ll have thicker gloves.
Down to freezing and below I’ll still stick with the merino. Lobster claw gloves are required and more socks but just one layer under the Mistral Pro – how does it keep me this warm?!
I’ve not had loads of rain so far but in showers I have been dry and warm.
Overall, the Mistral Pro is an unbelievable jacket – better than replacing the Agu I had before and a full on colour for my commute.

This is an excellent bit of kit, bought after a mate turned up for a ride wearing (an orange) one. Excellent fabrics, well tailored and thoughtfully detailed.
Just bougth some Galibier bib shorts, and about to buy their Roubaix Vision Six gloves too, having considered and dismissed Gore, Castelli & Rapha alternatives, because Galibier matches their quality for a much lower price.
Really like the Galibier philosophy too.

Got the MISTRAL PRO 2 JACKET as a Christmas Present from my Daughter, best present she ever goy me !!.
This Jacket ticks all the boxes keeping you dry and warm in Winters cooler conditions. I wear it with a winter base layer (No Jersey) and it is perfect !, I have the Orange colour and it’s not only stylish but also very visible in dusky dull conditions, all round top quality, and given what you are getting, at a price a fraction of its competition

  9. Cider Rider

Almost perfect – Having requested the Mistral Pro as a Christmas present, and used it today, this is a great jacket. The material and general construction is the usual high quality and it is more than a match for the Alpha ROS which it closely resembles. The fleece backed material is incredibly warm and the burnt orange colour is nice and bright for winter, with the small reflectives on the cuffs being a nice touch for signalling.

The unseasonably warm weather meant I was pretty toasty with a long sleeve baselayer and the temperature at 9 degrees today, but the venting system with the inner jacket worked really well to release most of the excess heat. I think this jacket will really excel at 6 degrees and colder, so I’m looking forward to testing it further.

My one (minor) quibble is the collar, it would benefit from being an inch taller and a slightly wider diameter. I don’t have a particularly thick neck, but I was being choked with the magnet clasp closed and there is certainly no allowance for a buff, which you’re likely to be wearing in deep winter. It’s a small thing, but with those couple of tweaks, this jacket could be the one to rule them all.

First impressions on the Mistral Pro 2 .
Ridden this morning 3c on temp , had the barrier base layer on and the Mistral .
Toasty all the ride , opened front when sun was on me …just right temp inside jacket .
Fit is good , I could get away with a small ,but already have second skin products . So this medium is spot on , slightly big but absolutely no way baggy or not stylish .
Love the in yer face Orange colour !!
    I’m 5’6 , 64kg typical cyclist build.

Immaterial of its price ,this is a great bit of cycling kit .
    Well done Galibier team.

  11. Steve Armstrong (verified owner)

Excellent jacket for temperatures below 8 degrees. Worn with the Galibier base layer my body stays warm in the coldest of North East weather. Great buy and thoroughly recommended.

  12. luca (verified owner)

giacca fantastica!! usata adesso con temperature 0_2 gradi solo con maglia merino sottile ed è perfetta. buona la misura xl per 1.87- 72 kg. Rapporto qualità-prezzo: eccezionale. Chapeau.

  13. Niklas Lindgren (verified owner)

I recently had a chance to take this jacket out for its first outing. The weather was around 9 degrees Celsius. I wore a t-shirt baselayer and a thin merino baselayer. The merino baselayer soon came off.

It quickly became apparent that this jacket is made for much cooler temperatures. I would expect temperatures at 5°C and below is where it truly excels.

When going uphill, you’ll want to open the outer zip, conversely you’ll want to close it on the way down – thankfully the outer zip is easy to operate one-handed even with gloves on.

The inner zip is a bit more demanding, but I didn’t need to adjust it more than once.

The pockets are deep and snug and hold on to whatever you put in them well. Yet, everything remains easily reachable on the bike.

I’m a sucker for most things orange, and the orange colour is absolutely stunning.

This jacket makes you wish it was cold enough that you could wear it out on a ride.

  14. twang1968

This is a bit if a long story and won’t come up as verified perchase! This is because the Mrs said I couldn’t order any more cycling stuff so my mate Edward ordered it for me and we had it delivered to work.
Today was my 2nd ride in the Mistral, my first was Thursday night, very cold night and here in Derbyshire it’s all hills, hills, hills! The jacket performed brilliantly, its all zip up, zip down, as you go up and down the hills. It was just perfect at venting up the hills and then zipping up for the downhills, super windproof, great round the neck, it’s gona have to get pretty cold to need a neck warmer! The inner layer is brilliant so you never get the cold on your chest when letting the heat out. We’re riding in the dark now in the week and the refective detailing on the pockets really gets you noticed. The pockets are nice and big, and you can fit loads in them The fit of the jacket is just perfect, I’m a 44 inch chest and not as thin as I should be and an XXL is like it’s been tailored to fit me! Todays ride we did 38 miles in the pouring rain, my mates Ian and Phil have also bought Galibier jackets so we were the Galibier club today! The breathability of this garment is astounding with how waterproof it is. I was bone dry after the ride and it was absolutely tipping it down. The water beading off the whole time. So i don’t know how far you’ve got to ride or how bad the rain has got to get be before the wet eventually gets through! Probably won’t bother taking a rain cape out anymore! In short, just buy this jacket, it’s a steal at that price as well. Ive got some ‘Italian’ jackets that cost 3 times as much as the Mistral and now I’d pick this over them every time.
If i could give this jacket 6 out of 5, I would! Just fantastic!
    Thank you Galibier!

Bought two of these one for me and one for the hubby. Always had a Stealth jacket for colder rides and loved them. They died in the wash, so instead of a new one bought this instead. First ride out in them today, it was cold and windy with a few showers, just what was needed to try them. Verdict from Hubby was excellent! better than the stealth, fits well and doesn’t let the cold in, keeps the rain out too! Verdict from me is very excellent! I don’t usually like days like this even with the stealth. I will definitely be out in more days like this. Fits snug to the body, and the chest sheild is a must, good deep pockets for kit and the stuff doesn’t bounce about. Well worth trying and for the price it is worth it. Will recommend!!

Owning quite a bit of Galibier kit, I was eager to buy the Mistral Pro and jumped as soon as it was available (snagged the discount to boot!)

I’ve worn it several times now and, given the four seasons in one day Spring days we’ve had, it’s been absolutely perfect. The ability to unzip different layers means that I’ve ben able to regulate really well and the breathability is superb. Worn it at zero degrees with just a baselayer underneath and been absolutely fine, even going down hills. Got caught out in an unexpected (and thankfully short) blizzard last week. Emerged out the other side dry, warm and smiling.

I’m 5 feet 8 and 160lbs. The medium fits me like a glove. I have to watch the last inch of zipping up as I caught my neck first time round but quickly learnt.

    Another winner from Galibier

  17. John Scott (verified owner)

I bought this jacket in preparation for longer cooler rides in the Autumn. However the Scottish spring intervened. Having worn the jacket as recommended with just a base lady underneath, it comfortably handled 3 degree temperatures with 6 degrees of wind chill. Did not have it out for longer than a couple of hours per ride , but I am reasonably certain it would keep you warm on a longer ride. XL is actually loose enough on me to allow a light jersey too if I wanted one, despite my expectation that it would be tighter. I love this jacket, it is a very worthwhile piece of kit .

  18. David Mehlhorn (verified owner)

Before I begin, I must be up front and say that 90% of my cycling clothing is Galibier. I’ve worn their clothing since I started cycling 6 years ago and I’ve always been very happy with the fit and performance. So why only two stars for this jacket? Firstly it’s a very poor fit on me. I’m 5’10, 43 inch chest, 34 inch waist, 83kg and I ordered the XXL as per the size guide as the XL was for a 41 inch chest and I thought it would be too small on me as the jacket is supposedly “snug fitting”. Well the XXL is too big in the chest, and is very baggy at my waist. The arms are too long and they bunch up when cycling. The cuffs aren’t tight enough and let wind up the sleeves if not wearing long gloves to tuck the jacket arms into. On the plus side, I wore it on a 50km cycle at one degree with a 25kph north wind and I was never cold, even with just a base layer under. As I’ve worn it, I can’t now return it but I don’t know if the next size down would fit me as there’s a good jump between sizes. Have to say I’m very disappointed as the jacket looks great and if it fitted, I’m sure it would be my go to jacket for cold days. Guess I’ll be using my Mistral Mark 1 jacket for some time to come as this one is far too big on me.

  19. Richard castle (verified owner)

This jacket arrived this morning, so I had to test it out! Three complaints,
    1. Why didn’t I order one sooner
    2. I need a new crash helmet as it doesn’t match this jacket
    3. Its highlighted that my base layer isn’t doing what its supposed to do

Great jacket, ordered a large, which fits my 72kg torso fine. Arms are longer, and cuffs are tight enough to prevent cold spots around my wrists. I thought the neck was going to be too low, but its great

Much better than any other jacket I’ve had, I think a Merino base layer will improve its winter ability.

Great price, great jacket, not disappointed.

  20. Mark Henderson (verified owner)

175cm 69kg and the Small fits me like a glove.

Typically the weather in West Coast Scotland became sunny as soon as the jacket arrived. I was far too excited, having read the reviews and this being my first serious clothing purchase since I started cycling at the start of the pandemic.

I took it for a spin at the top of the recommended range (10C) and I was very warm but never uncomfortable. The jacket breathed very well and cut out the wind perfectly on the fast descents.

I can’t compare it to any other cycling jacket as this is my first however it knocks the socks off the old water resistant running jacket I’ve used for inclement weather.

Only problem is I now can’t wait for payday so I can buy some clothing for spring!

  21. omarshallee (verified owner)

I purchased this jacket, size L 86kg , 5’11”, and when it arrived last night and I tried it on, I thought I have to go cycling tomorrow. The jacket just has a great feel to it. Forward 12 hours and it is a ropey enough morning here in my part of Ireland. 3c, 24 mph wind and showers plentiful but I was dying to get out and try the jacket in the conditions. Needless to say the Irish weather didn’t fail me and within 3 miles it was hammering it down. I had a good smile to myself when I looked at the arms and the rain was beading off perfectly. I had set aside about 40 minutes because I was under time pressure but the weather was so bad and the jacket so good I ended up doing 1 hr 30 with maybe 80% of the spin in heavy rain. This jacket is a sublime piece of kit. Don’t give this purchase consideration a second thought. Anyone browsing on this site is probably already aware how good a company Galibier is and the quality of product that they produce but even with that knowledge this jacket will shock you in the best way.

  22. Carlo Toledo (verified owner)

Worn this for two long cold Sunday rides of a few degrees. Performance was excellent; didn’t feel cold with just a single base layer underneath.
Bright colour means I’m confident of being visible on the road.
Rear pockets are a good size and cut is just right (sleeves not too long and jacket long enough to cover lower back- I’m 172cm tall and ~74kg and medium fits perfect).
As usual galibier have managed to produce a high quality garment at a great price.

  23. Andrew (verified owner)

Really impressed with this after only a few days of use, a lot of thought has clearly gone into the design and materials. For the price I can’t imagine you can do better for this type of jacket.

I’ve actually been wearing it without a base layer since it seemed like it’d be quite warm on its own and I tend to get too hot very easily. It’s been great like that so far! The first time I used it the temperature was probably around 4-5C and opening the chest flap a bit really helped to keep me from overheating when I was going uphill. Next was a very misty day with a lot of moisture hanging in the air and temps around 2C. The outer surface beaded up nicely and I stayed dry and warm. Today I did a couple of hours at zero degrees average according to my Garmin, again with no base layer, and I felt fine the whole time. It is exceptionally good at blocking the wind, you just don’t feel it at all.

In terms of comfort, the collar and cuffs and lining all get a thumbs up from me. I don’t tend to like high collars but this one seems to be OK. Haven’t felt anything irritating me or getting uncomfortable after I’ve been riding for a while.

    Highly recommended!

  24. Robert Downes (verified owner)

A shockingly good jacket. I’ve worn this a couple of times now, the first ride was a bright but chilly afternoon, about 6 or 7 degrees outside, I followed the advice and just wore a long sleeve base layer underneath, left the house slightly unsure about how warm I’d be. I definitely shouldn’t have worried, despite feeling the cold wind on my face and blowing through the helmet, I was perfectly warm in the jacket. It’s a slightly odd sensation, there’s no feeling of the wind blowing against the jacket like there is with some other items, just a feeling of being perfectly comfortable.
I never overheated during the ride despite a couple of longer uphill drags (and my current lack of fitness), if it was 10-12 degrees outside I’d probably wear it with a lightweight base layer, and if it was getting closer to freezing I’d go with something heavier, but the beauty of this jacket is being able to adjust to taste.
I’m 6’1″ ~85kg, a 40-41″ chest and went for the XL, this leaves me room underneath for a baselayer and winter jersey if I really want to layer it up, but doesn’t leave it too loose over just a lightweight layer, I think a Large would work if I was only ever going to go with a single layer underneath.

The attention to detail on the Jacket is great, the material feels really nice, with just the right amount of weight to make it sit properly without feeling heavy. The flap over the front zip ending where it does is ideal as it stops it bunching up when you’re leaning forwards, and the inner wind layer is a really great fit, keeping nice and taught so the jacket doesn’t sag when you unzip the main front, and the magnetic collar plus retainer magnet are something that should be on every jacket, it just makes so much sense.

Have worn this twice now in 0 Degree temperatures and it works a charm, matches my Alpha ROS 2 for performance and quality materials and build, but at less than 1/2 the price! The orange colour really stands out in bad weather/darker days. Now this jacket kept me warm and while going full gas and on some hill climbs (10% for 3km)I opened the front zip and vented nicely, very little signs of sweat at the end of the ride, I bought a size large (175cm height, 101cm chest, 72kg) and it is a comfortable fit, even with a winter base layer, I liked it so much that I have bought a second one.

  26. Peter Martin (verified owner)

I opened my package with great excitement, I was not disappointed. The Mistral 2 Pro has a luxurious feel to the fabric, its beautifully cut, it looks and feels fantastic.

I am 174 tall and 64kgs, the medium fits me like a glove.
    Bring on the foul weather.

  27. max

brought it this summer, first time wearing it today and done 40 miles between 2″-4″ temperature with summer base layer feeling comfort , not feeling cold, especially on few long step hills….. not overcooked. I like slim fit more aero style. Absolutely good price.

great piece of kit! bought this in the summer and finally got to try it out this morning. was around 4c when i set off and i just wore this with my bibs on underneath to try and test the waters. Needless to say it was plenty warm and very well made. for the price its an amazing piece of kit. Thank you to galibier! Slowly building up a collection of your items in my wardrobe now

Bought this a few years back now, si my review is based on some long term experience!
This jacket has changed the game for me, the quality of material and the build mean it can be -5°c (and colder) and all I need is this plus a base layer
It really is an exceptional piece of clothing. The double chest zip is brilliant at being to regulate temperature, the pockets a so easily to get in and out off with chunky winter gloves on and the drop tail keeps by bum nice and dry from road spray. Happy happy days

I waited for winter to test this Mistral Pro Jacket. Today was 3-7 degrees Celsius, windy but sunny.
I like the jacket styling and how it is purposeful. The hi-viz back is spot on, really visible.
The jacket kept my torso and arms warm and toasty. Just a little damp inside after my 50 km ride. The collar protects my neck even without a neckwarmer. Cuffs are a bit tight and stiff, I would have liked them to be more elasticated.
I also wish the branding over the chest was more understaded (e.g. grey over black instead of this sparkling silver).
A very useful and nice jacket. Considering its design and features and the price, it gets 5 star rating. I would definitely buy it again. Reccommended.

  31. Frank Zandbergen (verified owner)

Wanted to wait with writing a review until I could really test the jacket, and I definitely have today. In a classic case of trusting too much on the weather report I went out in 7 degrees and sunny weather. However this turned very quickly into 0 degrees and a hailstorm which lasted the better part of an hour. The jacket kept my core and arms perfectly dry and warm, whilst still breathing enough and only wearing a merino baselayer underneath. Very impressive!

After riding over Christmas in temperatures down to -4 one morning, I Ordered this jacket on Sunday night along with the izoard gilet. They both arrived Tuesday which was amazing. The quality and fit of the jacket are outstanding. Just worn it with a base layer this evening and it is a brilliant jacket. I have a few different jackets of this type from well known brands and this seems to make them all look cheap. Sadly I selected the wrong size gilet and have sent it back to change for the right size. Again the quality of the gilet is first class. Can’t wait for some colder weather to use them both together. Thank you Galibier, I will be back for other stuff!

  33. Timothy Clifton (verified owner)

Does what it supposed to do warm, comfy and shower proof. Have warn it every cold ride this winter with only a base layer and when up to speed is toasty. Gets a bit cold a clammy when you stop bit all is good again once you continue on your way, plenty of space for storage, and highly stretchable. Do not recommend using when the mercury rises as it really does get hot! The only gripe I have is the velcro fastening started to come loose after only a few uses. Apart from that I highly recommend.

  34. Simon L (verified owner)

Quite simply the best bit of winter kit I’ve had. Whilst I’ve not had the misfortune yet to try it out in heavy rain, it’s just magnificent in the cold. With the right base layer it’s the dog’s. Get one!

  35. Keith Kaminski (verified owner)

I’ve worn this jacket for about 300km on the bike and a short run in -5c to 10c. It kept me warm and dry in three-hour rides in the rain. The fit is bike specific and true to size. The finish is like Castelli: a few loose threads here and there, but unlike Castelli, you stay warm even below freezing. The trim on the inner layer is coming off after three rides which is annoying because everything else is excellent.

  36. Charles Fellowes (verified owner)

    Fantastic jacket.
I was deciding between this and the Ultimate Foul Weather Gilet. I planned to try them both and to return one. In the end, I decided to keep both!
I’ve worn this in temperatures ranging from -1’C to 8’C, combined with various weights of (Icebreaker) merino base layers. It has kept me nice and warm and dry, although I’d say that the upper temperature guide of 5’C is probably right as you’ll warm up too much.
The off-centre zip is good for when you’ve got a zipped base layer on. The inside 2nd zip is also quite handy in case you want to let in the extra air.
The cuffs are on the tight side, but that keeps out the wind/rain. Pockets are cavernous but not saggy. The collar does come quite high, which is good for protection, but can be a little choking. The phone pocket is useful if you’re worried about it falling out, but is a tight fit to use with larger phones (Samsung S8+ only just fits).
    Size wise, I went for a large (66kg / 176cm).
It has now been through the wash 4-5 times and still looking like new. I like the red stripe as I’m sure that it contrasts well with the black for visibility.
This was another great buy from Galibier.

Very impressed with the quality of this jacket, its waterproof, toasty warm even when the temperature drops well below zero and fits really well.Very reasonable price too when compared to some big, well known brands.
This jacket is the best piece of cycling clothing I’ve ever used over the last 20+years.
    Superb!

This is an absolutely superb piece of clothing. I’ve had it a week now and it’s got me through 3 extremely heavy downpours (2 very heavy, for over an hour and 1 storm rainfall for 30-45mins).
It’s kept me really warm and importantly perfectly dry throughout. It’s particularly comfortable also, definitely the most comfortable top I have for the bike. It’s my go to winter top, and another quality piece from Galibier. I won’t buy clothes elsewhere given the value and huge quality of their gear.

Almost the perfect winter cycling jacket.

I wore it all last winter, riding every singe day and in all weathers.

All I needed to wear, even on the coldest of days, was a merino wool base layer. This really is that warm and windproof.

    But.

The sizing is one too large and after I’d worn it once and noticed this I couldn’t replace it.

Also the velcro at the bottom of the zip flap has fallen off. Not a major deal, but it just lets the quality down.

Bought this jacket this week after much deliberation. Service was great and delivery (standard option) was 4 days from order. Wore the jacket with just a base layer underneath for an evening ride where temperatures dropped to 3 degrees by the time I got home. Very impressed, nice and warm and kept the wind out (shame my choice of glove didn’t perform as well). I have a bit of an issue with cycling clothing being dark but the red stripe helps with visibility – personally, I’d like to see the colours reversed (black stripe on red) I’m a 42″ chest and choose an XL which is a good fit – not too snug. Only gave 4 stars as I had to lie to my wife about buying it (and the colour thing). I’ve nothing to compare this too but I’m very impressed.

This is my first ever cycling jacket and I feel like I couldn’t have picked a better one for versatility. I ordered a medium and it ended up being to snug. I was swiftly sent a large in exchange and it’s like the jacket was made for me. I’m 5’8 at 167 pounds with lean muscle. It could be kind of hard to figure out the sizing…

My advice if you can afford it is to order the two sizes you think might work for you and then just return the one for s refund that doesn’t. Wish I had done this…

Just rode with the jacket today in 10 degree weather and a baselayer underneath with wind and a bit of rain. I was amazed at how breathable the jacket was and at no point felt like I was overheating, incredible…

The pockets on the back are great, the jacket looks and feels like something double the price and if your lucky to come across this jacket just buy it. Apart from a dedicated rain jacket it’s the only one you’ll ever need.

Love this jacket, can get away with wearing only a base layer underneath it. On slightly colder days I might go with a long-sleeve base layer & short sleeve jersey. Wore it yesterday for a 70k spin of which about 30km was in pouring rain. Was warm & dry – really recommend this jacket, the performance for the price is amazing.

    A brilliant jacket:

It is super warm. I am a very skinny person and comfortably wear it withno base layer down to about 3 degrees. The two layer design is perfect because when it warms up it is super easy to control core temperature.
The pockets are MASSIVE but also dont sag whatsoever so all winter things (including extra gloves, buff etc.) fit fine. The zipped pocket is large enough for an iPhone 8 to go in vertically.

My only concern is that the lower velcro patch for the outer zip can sometimes catch the inner front layer and this has lead to minor “bobbliness” where it sometimes contacts it. Apart from that no problems!

Went out in mistrial pro jacket for the first time today with temp at -2 but with a wind chill of -6 . Had a long sleeve baselayer underneath and never felt the cold and I wasn’t even riding hard an absolute superb jacket!!!!! Forget all trendy designer brands this will outperform any of them hands down. Talking of hands I also used galibier winter gloves and mistrial pro bib tights . So if you want to ride throughout freezing cold weather put this gear on and you won’t even notice it. Great company to deal with with a fast and efficient sevice.

First ride yesterday in this jacket.Fantastic jacket. It wasn’t that cold but it was very windy with some rain. The rain beaded on the jacket and the wind never penetrated at all. I wore it with a thin baselayer and at no point did I feel uncomfortable. I ordered the xl, I could probably have got away with the large but I wanted the option of layering up with thicker baselayers or a ls jersey. Would highly recommend this jacket

Ordered a medium before Christmas, needed to go up a size, exchange was so easy.(1.84m & ~70kg – Large is perfect) I wore the jacket for the first time last night on a 1hr club training ride. Avg temp was 0deg. With a light s/s base layer, thermal l/s jersey and the mistral pro I was a bit too warm but not uncomfortable. Tail is long, inner leaf really useful. Zip pocket behind the 3 rear pockets a nice touch. The mistral pro is my new favourite item of cycling clothing!

Bit gutted about this product first time out it let water in badly on the arms did write a review but it wasn’t published I’ve got plenty of galibier gear and love it maybe I got a duff one sorry guys but can only be honest about my review have worn on dry cold days and it’s toasty warm unfortunately not waterproof

This jacket is amazing. I tested the Mistral Pro Jacket on my commute to work this morning and I was very impressed with the quality of the garment as well as the wind and waterproof qualities.

I struggled to find a deep winter garment that was both wind and waterproof and also looked the part too until I came across this beauty!

The large is a great size for me as primarily my sport is CrossFit and gym training and I use the road bike for commuting and recreational fitness. I’m 5 foot 6 inches and 75kg and hold a lot of lean muscle so for me the fit was just right considering I can put more layers on if needed without the garment feeling like it’s suffocating me.

The deep pockets are great hiding all those cheeky cycling treats for the mid ride coffee stop.

Overall I’m very pleased with the jacket and really recommend this company for your cycling apparel.

Like some others, I stumbled across Galibier looking for some gloves. I bought this jacket on the strength of the reviews and have not been disappointed. On a 100km ride yesterday in wind and 3-6degC it performed superbly. It’s a stylish, quality garment from the inside out. I’m 190cm and 73kg and medium ended up the right size for me. Love how you can vent easily to get the comfort level just right during a climb or a quicker effort. The deep pockets are great but will take a bit of getting used to (managed to lose a gel trying to extract a munchie on the go!). Thanks Galibier for providing a quality, well thought through jacket at a great price. PS- Just ordered a pair of matching bib tights. Guess I’m hooked!

  50. thomas

The jersey was challenging to my symmetrical brain at first glance but understood the full aero dynamic deflecting effects of the slightly off center zip,the wind passing round the side rather than blowing through the middle with the additional waist coat defence I was unchallenged by the cold.
    Excellent garment

  51. Philip McK

Wore my mistrol pro jacket for the first time on Sunday 7 Oct since last winter. Forecast wasn’t too bad, light showers and 6/7c.
Thank heavens I wore it, the rain never really ceased and we had to ride into a 15/20mph headwind for
almost 2hrs. I only had a light long arm base layer on and not once did I feel wet or cold, unfortunately my hands and feet didn’t fair as well. Couldn’t recommend this jacket highly enough.

  52. Adzy (verified owner)

Bought this last winter …..keeps you toasty all ride …..
I would say it has to be bellow 5°c to wear it……any warmer and you sweat very easy .
Ideal for a long relaxed day in the saddle on a cold day.
The extra layer on the chest is brilliant with the 2 zip openings….and its very comfy….cant wait to use it this winter in the cold temps

I ordered theMistral Pro Jacket (and the Mistral bib tights and Fire Feet 2 Socks) in early February 2018, motivated by the unusually cold yet mostly dry weather around that time. I tend to commute by bike as much as I can regardless of season, while only avoiding properly wet days.

To give you an idea of what I was used to, I’d mostly been using a Castelli Thermosuit or LG winter thermal garments, combined with a long sleeve merino base layer.

I used the Galibier combination with a long sleeve merino base on several days, both for commuting (~10 miles each way) and for a couple of social rides (~30 miles), in temperatures between 0 and up to 10 degrees Celsius. I would say that 10C is about the limit for this, it really is very warm. I have absolutely no complaints about its performance, it kept me marvellously warm yet without feeling suffocating or sweaty. Being able to unzip the front to cool down is a great feature.

There was a relatively small amount of rain, which posed no problems whatsoever. In terms of comfort and overall performance, I actually think it’s better than my Thermosuit, although it does feel a little heavier; I wear either one with the same joy though.

Sizing: I’m about 5ft10 85kg, the XL fits well.

    A great piece of gear!

Excellent jacket, worn a few times since i bought it in various low temps, last night was the coldest at about 1c but felt colder heading into the wind, only had a short sleeve base layer under jacket and felt very comfortable, the jacket has a feel of great quality with some nice features like the inner insulating layer (which i leave unzipped when not needed), bigger than usual rear pockets which are very roomy without looking too big, nice reflective striping at the back, have not tried in the rain as yet but very confident this jacket will keep me dry and warm when needed, Highly recommend this jacket for your winter wardrobe, im a 42in chest and 88kgs the XL fitted just fine.

  55. mark2

Amazing fit, wore it for the first time today at 3 degrees with a thin base layer, toasty. Racer cut, I’m a sprinter build, 1m75cm, 78kg and the medium is a perfect, snug fit in the cycling position. Pockets are super, well designed and well made, a bargain if it was twice the price. Buy this jacket!!

  56. Russell (verified owner)

Quality made product, cannot fault the design and performance of the jacket, rain very comfy. ideal for when the GABBA doesn’t fit with the COLD weather.

    6ft 2″ and 79kg – size XL

Pro’s: looks the business, very well made
Con’s: front lower section I could do with an extra inch #XL
Zip pocket with phone makes inside pocket very tight #Minor

What I’d like, a third cuff maybe silicon band would stop the draft completely?

Galibier products have come a long way since the start, very much my main place for new kit.

Wore for the 4th time today and am very impressed with the Jacket, A good fit after Galibier exchanged the one I ordered with hope thinking. As the weather has been so changeable here this week the jacket has been great in all conditions.I have quite a bit of Gear from Galibier and can’t recommend it highly enough. Now to lose weight and hopefully fit into what i think i should be wearing.

Great product. First spin yesterday at 5C temperature with just a base layer underneath and was nicely warm and could unzip slightly to cool down as needed. Fantastic customer service too. Would highly recommend.

  59. Barry K

Very impressive piece of kit. Worn this morning for the first time, in 1c temperatures with a biting northerly wind chill in the mix. As warm as my thickest old windtex proofed jacket in a neat well fitted and much lighter garment, with protection all the way to the cuff due to the excellent cut.

I received the jacket just in time for my iceskating trip to the Weissensee in Austria and I took a bit of a risk to first use it in an 200 km iceskating event. I was very satisfied with the jacket under these difficult conditions. It was -7 at the start (06:00) and around +8 and sunny at the middle of the day (13:00). I only had a woolen shirt and a salopette under it and the galibier arctic multi scarf around my neck. The jacket was warm enough in the morning and cool enough during the day. I always sweat a lot during exercise, but the jacket ventilated enough to keep me dry. The pockets at the back were big enough to store lots of food and are well accessible. I was skating with my wife and she appreciated the recognizable T-shaped reflections on the back. I have one suggestion for further improvement: a front pocket with a zipper for your telephone, or other small items.

Had been waiting for ‘decent’ nasty Canadian weather for the 1st ride with the jacket & experienced a diverse range this weekend (#Toronto) which perfectly illustrates its capability,as follows:
Sat:6c/feels like 2c w. head wind all the way back home (32km/h wind gusts). 2.5 hrs ride.
    Sun:-2c/feels like -4c. 2.5 hrs ride.
Wore it with a merino long sleeve base layer & was a bit hot on Sat & perfect on Sun.
I already own the Mistral Foul II weather jacket & use it on similar conditions w. a heavier weight winter jersey. No regrets on both pieces, they offer more range than anything else out there.
For size ref: 5’9”, 69kg , medium fits perfect.
….the only issue is that I’m running out of room to hide my Galibier collection from senior management ….

Thought the first mistral jacket was good until I wore this one. Today was windy, rainy and miserable but my body wasn’t. As advised, one base layer was plenty, I was even too warm at times. Neat fitting, nice features and top class materials make this jacket the first thing on my winter kit list.
This is a £150 jacket for half that. Unbelievable quality and performance again from Galibier.

Fantastic jacket, both in function and fit. Wore for first ride today here in New York. Mild weather today compared to the arctic blast we’ve been experiencing. The fit is perfect and jacket keeps you super warm. Unzipped outer membrane when started to heat up and instantly cooled down without worrying about jacket flapping around in wind. I have had an Assos jacket in the past and I am just amazed that quality of Galibier clothing at this price point. Glad I stumbled on this site.

Bought the mistral pro a few weeks ago and have been wearing it non stop on my daily commute of 30 Miles. Ordered medium am 5 10 and 66kg and was a perfect fit. Used to wear a waterproof to keep warm in the early morning 5am as couldn’t tell what the weather would be like and don’t like getting wet. With this jacket all that has changed with just a merino base layer underneath i have cycled in -4 to +14 degrees in torrential rain and can in all honesty say my top part was dry and warm plus i never overheated. Have yet to find the perfect bib-tights to keep my legs dry in heavy rain but am still looking. Usually wear 2 layers of overshoes over a couple of swing bin bag liners to keep my feet dry which actually do work providing its nor torrential rain as the water seeps through the bib-tights and runs down into the shoes eventually.

I ordered the jacket as soon as i saw it on the Sunday and received it on the Wednesday, thanks to a an email received back at the need of last year I was lucky to get a 10% discount of the is amazing piece of kit.
Even without trying it on you can see and feel the quality of garment, who needs big Italian brand names when you can get a far superior garment for a honest price.
This isn’t my fist purchase I have bought and summer top, gloves and socks. But this was a major investment for me trying to find the holy grail of a jacket that actually keeps you warm and dry in the winter months.
I ventured out Saturday with my normal deep winter baselyer on, and an hour or so later regretted that decision, I have never been so warm in such low temps, The main zip was open most of the ride allowing me to cool down, but the most amazing part is the core warmer as I’m calling it, what a great feeling to have a warm midriff whilst trying to circulate some air. Kudos to Galibier for this idea.
The only down side to owning this jacket is that it has shown me that I need to invest in the bib tights now as my legs were rather obviously colder than I never knew they were before.
I bought a large size which is not normally my size but after changing my summer jersey to a large I didn’t want to risk it, it was perfect as i wasn’t looking for a race fit. The Medium would have been bang on size i suspect , but the extra inch or so give me that little bit more flexibility.

Ordered my Mistral Pro jacket Sunday night and it arrived Wednesday, even after me emailing a size change. No problem the right one turned up. Thanks guys, much appreciated.
Went out in a brisk, cold wind this weekend having just swapped my usual jacket for this one. I was extremely toasty. Can now loose a layer and still be warm. Never thought I could be warm on a winter ride. Excellent jacket. Don’t think about it, just get one. You won’t regret it.
Now, if I can just sort my fingers out….

first ride in this jacket yesterday, 50km’s on the windy wild cliff tops near Land’s End… this is a quality jacket, just awesome, kept me toasty warm and the fit is just perfect…5’10” 95kg 44″chest size XXL. Quality and value as always.

  69. M.R (verified owner)

I wore this jacket for the first time this morning at 3’C, damp and a slight wind with a base layer and very thin summer riding top underneath.

It kept me really warm throughout but not too hot, I had to open the vent for a short period on a Hill but overall I really am very pleased with this jacket.

T feels excellent quality and will be using this for the rest of the winter without fail. Regarding size, I am 42” chest, 179cm and 89kg so opted for XL, this is an excellent fit, not too tight or baggy though I might have got away with an L but don’t like it too tight and it leaves room for thicker layers underneath should I need to.

This was also the first Galibier cycle clothing I have bought so will be looking out for more great kit at a great price in the future!

Got the original mistral jacket in black & red which I’ve used for over 2-3 years & has been awesome
So obviously when Galibier launches the pro I didn’t hesitate to purchase
Arrived today & as usual super accurate fit
Looks & sits great when on
Will try on ride on Sunday
Know this will be excellent as usual
I’ve got a big range of Galibier products & they never fail to impress me
    Brilliant products

Wore this last night doing some fast flats in about 4c. Then I opened up the collar to let the air in, but the inner layer meant that I didn’t get cold, just cooled down. Perfect.

The fit for me was great. The drop tail is long at the back which at first I thought excessive. But on the bike it keeps you covered and provides easy access to the rear pockets. I love the fact that you can easily access anything in these pockets with gloves hands.

The quality of the materials is that of a much more expensive jacket. What a bargain.

I can see me wearing this out on every ride this winter.

Also delivery was as usual quick and efficient.

This review is purely on first impressions, feel and fit as I have only taken delivery of it this evening.
The look of the jacket is VERY impressive; a smooth, matt black material with a lovely red stripe down the middle of the back. There are 3 rear pockets at the rear; the ones on each side are very spacious and the one in the middle is ideal for a mobile phone. There is reflective material at the back as well. It’s nice to see that it’s sewn on as opposed to printed on as that usually peels off after a short while.
Opening the front of the jacket is achieved by unvelcroing a 3/4 length flap and then unzipping the outer jacket. This reveals the inner zipped chest cover. After a session of hill climbing and overheating you can open the outer jacket with the inner chest cover stopping you from losing too much heat. Afyer having cooled down a bit, just zip the your jacket up again.
The feel if the jacket when on is VERY comfortable its almost as if youre not wearing it. It’s then you realise that the rear drop at the bottom of the jacket really does go a long way down and has a superb gripper finish to stop it riding up.
On first impressions this is everything that the Castelli Alpha jacket dreamed of being ….but never was.
    Excellent choice of material
    Lovely understated colour scheme
    Incredibly comfortable.
I’m a 44″ chest. The Galibier sizing stated XXL. I bought XXL. it fits perfectly.
Just can’t wait to get out on the road in it now!
