Lightweight and minimalist soft-shell jacket, provides a wind-resistant membrane that keeps the cooler elements at bay
“The best value, high protection cycling jacket on the market”
Training in cold and wet weather is a lot easier with the protection offered by our Route Softshell. The a close-fitting, outer layer makes it ideal as a single winter garment with low bulk. At under 300 grams it is the lightest full winter membrane available on the market, making it ideal for layering up in deep winter. There are three rear pockets, two smaller side pockets for easy access to nutrition and a larger centre pocket for a stored layer or pump. A zipped security pocket adds space for keys and some cash for a café stop. The main YKK storm proof zip has a large reflective toggle, making it easy even with gloved hands to vent excess heat on climbs or when the group is pushing hard.
The garment is available in Sea Blue with 3M reflective pocket highlights for extra visibility for after-dark training sessions. A high collar, longer arms and rear profile, contour the garment for the ideal cycling position protection. Race fit garment but high stretch fabric retains comfort.
Designed and sourced in-house and only sold direct to the end consumer, means we can retail the jacket for 50% lower than the direct competition, while still giving the talented stitching workers and fabric production staff a living wage.
While others hunker down indoors, Route Softshell will keep you cycling outside even when the weather isn’t on your side.
Worn this jacket twice since it arrived. Best jacket I have, highly recommended. I am 39 inch chest and have worn two thin base layers and the fit is spot on. Another great purchase from Galibier.

Exceptional value for this high performance garment. Has kept me warm on a few chilly morning group rides with a couple of base layers. Then It got really tested on a 3 hour spin that got wetter as it went on. I already knew it was very wind proof but I was surprised at how well it kept the rain out. It was saturated on the outside but my base layer showed hardly any damp areas when I examined it on my return. I really like the colour and the practical pockets. The material is very stretchy and so it’s very comfortable. I’m 5’8” with 38” chest and the medium fits me well with my two base layers. The sleeves feel a bit long until I’m on the bike and then it all just works.

Yet another excellent piece of kit from Galibier, every bit as good as any of the “premium” brands and far better value for money. The cut & fit is spot on. The rear pockets are generous & easy to access, with some nice reflective material for night-time visibility. I wore it on a cool (9 deg C), windy, dry spin with just a long-sleeved based layer underneath, and it was perfect.
The only issue I have is the sizing. I have a good number of Galibier jackets (Mistral, Mistral Pro, Zoncolan gilet etc) and all are size M. However, I had to exchange the size M Route Winter jacket ordered for a Large, it’s much more a race/slim/aero fit more akin to the Castelli Gabba sizing – I’m a large in the Gabba. For reference I’m 5’ 9”, (175 cm), 74Kg & 38” (97 cm) chest and this jacket is a slim/snug fit in size Large. I had similar issues with my wife’s female specific Route jacket, it too had to be exchanged for one size larger.

Purchased this jacket in jan 2022. After wearing the jacket on three runs found the quality to be excellent.
I would wear this jacket in temperatures between 6 degrees- 10 degrees with a winter baselayer.

Like really stupidly wonderfully good value. Replacing my stealth black Gabba with this in the long term for the darker commutes. Its probably not as bright as some of the other colour ways but I do quite like the blue. Maybe the logo is a little large on the chest but what difference in the real world does that make!
For sizing I’m 6’5″, around 90kg and 40″ chest and tried Medium through to XL. I did stick with the XL in the end just for comfort and the arm length.
Really nice bit of kit, incredibly priced.

Received this a week ago but hadn’t worn it until today. Conditions for my 30k ride in the Yorkshire Dales, 4 degrees Celcius, cold winds gusting between 12 and 16 mph from the North. Intermitent squally rain and sleet. Average speed of my ride 14 mph, but at 67 yoa I had to workharder than the young guns and anyway I run warm most of the time.
Wore only a merino baselayer under the Route Winter Jacket with a “just in case Gillet” tucked in rear pocket.
For the first 60 mins the jacket stood up well but after that I did start to get quite cold especially on the arms, that said with windchill factor the ROUTE was ininially performing well above it’s pay-grade. It is certainly a match if not moreso to the Castelli Perfetto ROS (tested in similar conditions by myself) which targets the same market space as the ROUTE but at nearly three times the price; and using the ROS as a benchmark I reckon the ROUTE beats it in other areas other than price.
The fit for me, whilst not overly tight is very ‘race’ oriented. The refective elements alied to the Royal Blue fabric colour are superb in terms of BEINGSEENABILITY and pocket space including a zipped secure one for phone for this kind of £s is exceptional.
Conclusion. I should have worn my Mistral Pro Jacket given the conditions but I wanted to give the ROUTE a hammering and it stood up very well all things considered.
No ingress on my ride despite occasional heavy rain and ice cold horizontal sleet.
Great fit.
Great fabric colour and visibility.
Warm despite what I put it through.
Price.
One of the few companies that from the outside looking in still appear to care whilst adding significant value from their personal touch.
Sizing
I am 185cm, 91kg, chest 110cm with an 86.3cm (34 inch) waist and the XXL fits perfectly, if that helps anyone.
Be careful out there, there’s an idiot around every corner

I ordered the Route Winter jacket on Fri afternoon, it arrived Monday morn. Great for free delivery! I even had a stupid question on my payment which Myles was good enough to answer at 8pm on the Sat evening, what service. First run out in -1 today with jacket, I was doubtful on fit when i first put it on as it is close fitting but when on the bike the fit was perfect. I used a thin thermal base layer, all I needed. The wind blocking was amazing even at -1! I love the ‘classic’ design & as usual the quality is fab. My 5th or 6th item from Galibier, all great quality & value, no need to go elsewhere. I was even sent a free neck scarf. Thank you guys, I will be back!

I’m a committed Galibier customer so I expected this jacket to be good, guess what? It is!
Great design and materials & well made piece of kit. Was unsure of size but Myles advised & got it right. First ride today was up & down Portland Dorset about 10degrees & a chilly 16/17mph NNE blowing. With just a sleeveless base layer underneath I was fine. Love the jacket, good pockets, good reflective & great performance Thanks Galibier, I’ll be back for more!

Ordered this jacket at the weekend and arrive yesterday (4days for free delivery)I went down a size as wanted it tight to keep the heat in, I’m 42inch chest and went L, I put on a short sleeved base laye(also galibier) and put the jacket on, while it was very tight it was not uncomfortably tight, I went for a 50k spin along canal banks into the wind and at 7deg and it was as cosy as toast with only the base layer, once in riding position the tightness eased and it fitted like a glove, once again a highly recommended garmet from glitter, I honestly don’t shop anywhere else now, much cheaper and better quality than the well known brands
