I’ve had my Tempest Pro 2 for two years now. Last weekend I had to finish the last 60 miles of a race in a downpour. The jacket kept me dry and I was still smiling across the finish line. Well worth the purchase, it’s an excellent piece of kit.

Do believe the hype. At last a lightweight rain jacket that has great breathability. Wore on a 2 Celsius ride with a base layer and long sleeve you six jersey underneath. Felt toasty warm during the whole ride, but never boil in the bag hot. At the end of the ride my base layer was markedly less damp than normal. The jersey not damp at all. Very impressed with the breathable membrane. Like the fact there’s a small pocket – put the bag in there during the ride.

I’ve now ridden with this jacket in summer and autumn downpours and been super happy with its breathablity and waterproofness. Nearly brought a expensive shake-dry jacket but I know I would ruin/shred it with commuting, this is is just as good and don’t have to worry about losing it or tearing it because of the cost

I rarely write reviews but in this case I have to share my experiences. I first wanted to buy a shakedry jacket because all my friends who had one were totally hyped about it. Because I allways had great experiences with Galibier clothing I bouhgt the Tempest Pro 2 and gave it a shot. I‘m 182cm and 70kg, first ordered M Size but asked for a S because I hate flapping shoulders when decsending. S is a very very snug fit in my case and perfect for Spring/Summer when you have mainly thin layers underneath.
2 Days ago we went up Grand Ballon in the Vosges, started dry with 17 degreees C but on top dark clouds rolled in and it suddenly started to hail with 4 degrees celcius, had to descend quickly because we were soaked in minutes, road was hidious with hail stacking up, when we entered a cafe in the valley shivering I took off the jacket and to my supprise the only part of my body which was still dry was my jersey and torso. Kept on riding 50 km in rain after warming up, now about 15 C temperature. My mate was a bit annoyed cause he was soaked with a much more expensive jacket cause the seam on his jacket was leaking. It also packs nicely in the attached pouch. Great piece of kit.

sizing totally off, got an xxl for Christmas, barely got it over my 44 inch chest.
sorry I’m obviously not the right shape for galibier clothing so off my shopping list.
got loads of other xl and xxl cy ling jackets and tops which fit perfectly.

Great Piece of kit. Wore it today and there was lots of rain. Jersey underneath remained totally dry. The best value you will ever get for 70 euro. 10 out of 10.

This jacket looks incredible (I got the purple). Love every detail. Functionally, this is about as good as you’ll find but with a pretty modest price tag. I’m 6’2″, 80Kg, with a long torso and arms. As others have said – Galibier are super easy and prompt in exchanging any delusional sizing misfires. The large was too tight in the armpits for me but the XL was perfect. Am reviewing today on my return to the website to buy more Galibier stuff.

Just returned from a bike packing trip to Wales where we had 3 days of torrential rain. The jacket was faultless, a great fit, super packable and kept me totally dry and warm throughout. Recommended!
Izabela –
So far this jacket has kept me dry in showers and quite heavy rain. The fabric is waterproof and breathable. It packs very small, so I always keep it in my handlebar bag (just in case). Very handy on chilly mornings as well.
I find the the top part very roomy for ladies (so a little bit of flapping), so I would love to see a ladies cut one day! 😉

Excellent quality Jacket and even better service. Ordered a Large but when I tried it on I found it slightly too tight. Exchanged for an XL. Process was quick and hassle free, with excellent communication.
Hugh Miller –
Excellent. Just what I was after – packs to nothing but is totally waterproof – also useful as an extra layer when setting off in the morning chill. Incredible value for such a quality jacket.

what a great lightweight jacket this is, 2021 version, wore this in a 30 plus minute torrential downpour yesterday, was cycling but could have done with a canoe in reality, amazingly nothing got through.
fits in a jersey pocket easily, I’m a medium in a race jersey, 38″ chest needed a large in this, fits perfect. highly recommended.

I heard about Galibier from a review on Road.cc of the best waterproofs. This product stuck out from the list because of its good looks and very affordable price. I’m very pleased with it. Package arrived next day and the Medium fits me perfectly (I usually wear size small). After a quick spin this morning I can see that it is highly effective as a waterproof yet breathable outer layer that I can pack into a teeny tiny lump and fit into my back pocket. Cheers! I shall buy more Galibier products in future.

Tried this jacket out today in “showery” weather that turned out to be epic downpours and it passed the test: the mix of waterproofness, breathability and low weight is spot-on.
In terms of fit, I’m 6′ 3″; I initially bought the XL but it proved to be too short on the arms, so I swapped it for the XXL (thanks to Galibier for the speedy exchange!) and it fits perfectly. Love the bright orange colour and motif on the back.

Been waiting to review the jacket until I’d actually used it in the rain and I can confirm it is brilliant. Completely waterproof, really breathable and packs down nicely into the pocket. The quality is so good, feels like a really premium piece of clothing. I’m 6′ and 83kg and the large fits perfectly – snug without being tight.
Aside from the jacket itself, the service was great. Arrived quickly, with a little gift and a hand written note, which I thought was a very nice touch. Really impressed and will be buying more stuff from Galibier.
Jason (verified owner) –
Really impressed with this jacket and the service provided by Galibier I’m 6ft 1 and 78kg I ordered large which was race fit, as I wanted a slightly looser fitting I exchanged for XL, Galibier turned this around within a day, really fast. For the price the jacket is exceptional quality, I’m almost looking forward to a good downpour to fully test the jacket. I received a pair of free socks with the order which was a nice touch. Thank you Galibier I will definitely be ordering again.

Very light material, almost paper like but that translates to small pack size and it’s breathable which I wanted. The purple looked amazing but orange was bright and matches other kit… It’s a great colour for road rides. The fit is good in body, not so tight but only downside is I could have done with inch or two on body and sleeve for my height 5’10 on a medium. Otherwise cannot fault it for a light packable waterproof, it protected me on a particularky windy and wet part of my tour around Argyll. Being warm and comfortable is well worth the cost.

I got two of this jackets! I can tell you, this jacket sure keeps you dry! I was hit by a heavy thunderstorm and this jacket withstood the heavy shower although it was only for 15mins. Only thing now, how do I keep my bib shorts and socks dry which were drenched! Haha. Highly recommended, and I look good wearing it too.

Worn Tempest 2 Pro Jacket on a few rides and breathability & wind proofing excellent.
Yet to test fully in serious rain.
Packs away OK in cycling jersey pocket.
Size wise, I’m 6ft and fairly skinny. Found L was good fit around chest but slightly short on both sleeves and torso. Swapped for an XL. Return process was hassle free and turnaround was fast.
Thumbs up.
Simon –
Great buy, i was looking for something waterproof not just showerproof and good value – I couldn’t justify the price of other brands based on how often it rains so went with this and it hasn’t disappointed.
great looking, very waterproof, quite breathable, just make sure you dress appropriately underneath.
6ft 1 and skinny, large fits great. stuffs nicely and perfect size to go into a bidon style carrier of i chuck it in the back pocket for shorter rides
don’t usually write reviews but the service was amazing too.My new favorite brand 🙂

Well done !

Very light and packable, not bad against the wind and very breathable, I keep this in the Jersey pocket on warmer days when not wearing the Mistral Pro, I live in Ireland where you can expect rain on every ride (4 seasons in one day sums up Irish weather :)). This jacket, in orange to be seen, works as good as the big name brands, but at a much more realistic price, I got a size large (175cm height, 101cm chest, 72kg) and it is a good comfortable fit.

Looked around for ages to find a quality breathable waterproof jacket at a reasonable price – finally came across Galibier. Great quality at an amazing price. Does the business, looks fantastic (orange version) and really compact. Ordered the wrong size but Galibier replaced immediately – such great service. Thank you

I required a replacement Waterproof for my son and had just returned an Altura Firestorm which was too restrictive and a size up was not available. After seeing good reviews for Galibier I took a punt. Order was placed Thursday 4.30pm, nervous about sizing on the placed order I queried 6.30pm. Item received Saturday morning post, superbly and tidily packaged. My Son is 38″ chest, 31″ waist, 5′ 7″. Medium a good, no flapping fit with a little space for 2 layers below. I can’t yet comment on breathability or waterproofing, which if there is I’ll update the review, but I felt good Customer service deserved instant gratification.

I bought one of these last summer but am only just getting to use it in anger. Very light and packable, very waterproof. Also has been serving well in the cold blowy weather as a wind jacket. I have a small which fits my skinny frame well. I’ve knocked off one star (would have been half a star if possible) as I think it should be a tad longer. Anyway that aside an excellent jacket which I’m please I have. Excellent value too.

Perfect for riding in really wet conditions – kept my clothes underneath dry and so I stayed warm. Very impressed.
Ethan downey –
Top quality rain jacket it’s super packable and performs perfectly even in the heaviest of rain with no water ingress whist also being breathable enough to not overheat. Great value for the money cannot recommend enough
Magnus Rossa (verified owner) –
Really well made jacket, super lightweight and packable. Fit is spot on, bought medium – 175cm 68kg 38″ chest. Takes a base layer and long sleeve jersey underneath without feeling restricting in any areas or too baggy to flap in the wind. Nice colour burnt orange. Would highly recommend

Excellent service & unbelievable prices for the quality.
This is my 2nd purchase of the same jacket. Lent mine to my wife to go walking with her mates one rainy day & she was the only one who came home dry & warm. I had suggested she used it as I swear by it on the bike. It keeps the wind out, keeps you dry, but there’s enough air getting in so, when you take the jacket off you’re not soaked in sweat like other brands which are more than double the price
Ordered on Monday afternoon, arrived Wednesday morning.

In preparation for a trip to the French alps last year (oh, those were the days) I needed to grab myself a new rain jacket. After a bit or research I stumbled across Galibier and as the price was way cheaper than similar jackets I took a punt. Arrived in next to no time and looked like a decent bit of kit and totally dope. Nice shade of blue and understated branding. Sweet.
Fortunately, September 19 weather in France was lovely so I did not need this jacket until about 3k from the summit of the mighty Galibier when ice rain started to fall. I couldn’t bear to stop so suffered to the summit; took a picture and grabbed my Tempest from my jersey pocket and was instantly protected from the storm as well as looking like the boss in my Galibier jacket at the top of the Galibier. F*** yeh. Tempest kept me warm and dry on the eye watering descent and has pretty much been my go to bit of kit since for any ride where there is any sign of a rain cloud and has never let me down and is my commute jacket of choice to arrive at work nice and dry.
Proof of the awesomeness of this bit of material is last week when I did a gravel ride in atrocious conditions where the top half of my body was bone dry after two hours of filthy New Forest riding. If just works.
Since taking a punt on this jacket in 2019, I have since pretty much bought only Galibier kit; having prepared for colder conditions with the VU winter jacket (excellent), bib shorts, the dope as heck Epoque jersey and am on the site now to order the Columbiere Insulated jacket. Always super fast delivery and tremendous value for money. The thing that keeps me coming back though, is that these guys love what they sell and this shines through on their designs and the amazing quality as well as little touches like the amusing washing instructions. So glad I took a punt on the Tempest as my introduction to Galibier CC. Highly recommended.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this jacket has been excellent. It packs up small enough to go into a jersey pocket so can be used in all seasons. Waterproofing is excellent and seems equal to more expensive products (although yet to test it in a downpour) – water beads up and rolls off easily. Galibier customer service were very helpful with prompt replies to a query on sizing, and delivery was fast. Highly recommended – excellent value.

Fantastic service, quick shipping. Very impressed with quality of this jacket for probably half the price at least of other brands. Sizing is bang on (I’m 5 11 with 39 chest, medium was perfect with space for jersey and gilet)
Russ walker –
Just used one of these to get me around the NC500 in atrocious conditions. Performed perfectly. My friend was using a castelli jacket costing twice as much, he got soaked and the zip kept failing.
I would highly recommend this jacket

The first time I used the jacket it looked like rain was on the way. It was a hot humid day and for the next half hour I did mostly hilly terrain but no rain fell. I was fairly hot and sweaty but there was no condensation inside the jacket which was a good sign that it was breathable.
I finally got the chance to test its waterproofness when a couple of weeks later I got caught in two 10 minute heavy showers. Rain beaded off and I stayed dry but after the rain stopped I noticed a slight dampness in my arms.
When I got home 40 minutes later I examined the jacket and found some areas with damp patches, particularly on the sleeves, and discovered that these patches had penetrated into the inside. The damp areas were not very wet, just slightly damp, but left me wondering what if the rain had been heavier or if I had been out longer?
Fit wise, I’m 6 foot tall and medium build, and the XL just about fits. It’s a close fitting garment so there’s no flapping when at speed. There’s a tendency for the jacket to ride up at the rear. There should really be a gripper at the hem to stop this or the rear should be slightly longer.
Overall, it has good breathability but not 100% waterproof, more like 80%. Packs away nicely into its inbuilt sack.

I bought this jacket for a 5 day/850 km bikepacking trip around Scotland and it did not disappoint. The weather was truly grim at times and the Tempest was waterproof, breathable and warm throughout. It worked well as my only outerlayer for wild camping and kept me warm rolling out at sunrise. At 6’1 and 75 kg the large was a perfect fit even with pockets stuffed with food for 200 km days. Having performed so well on this trip, I would trust this jacket to the end of the Earth.
stephentopping2 (verified owner) –
I have been very impressed with the jacket, great cut and fit and the rain seems to roll off the material. Sizing is accurate; I’m 38-40 inch chest, medium would have been spot on for going over short sleeve summer jersey, went a size up for comfort and ease in getting the jacket on over two layers for winter rides.
G Moore (verified owner) –
My Tempest Pro arrived this week, together with a surprise free gift and a nice hand written note! Haven’t actually used the jacket yet but seems decent and all the reviews I’ve read are overwhelmingly positive. Just a note on sizing – I’m about 6’1″ tall, 32″ waist and 38″ chest and went for a medium and its a good fit on top of light/summer gear but does fit over a long sleeve warmer jersey so I reckon it’ll be good for all seasons, except possibly when it gets really cold.

Just bought this jacket. It arrived to day. It is beautifully made and packaged, and fits perfectly. By far the best rain cape I have found for the money, love it. Cant wait to try it in the rain? Not only that I got nice little hand written note on the paperwork and an unexpected gift. I wish I had found this company years ago.

When the weather turns bad, like 70% of the year, you have 2 options.
1. Stay at home and possibly miss the greatest day ever in the saddle.
2. Put this jacket on/take it with you and venture to and meet destiny.
Your call.
Bill Krypel –
I got this rain jacket as a birthday gift, but first thing first. The company and its representatives are amazing, as is its customer service. If every company in the world behaved like Gilibier, what a wonderful world it would be. I am 6.3, 185 lbs, with a 44″ chest and a 35″ waist. I am tall and thin and the xxl fits perfectly. It is a comfortable race fit. Once on, I did not notice it over a forty mile ride. The sleeves are plenty long too and for someone tall, that is not always easy to find. I have not yet needed it during a rainstorm, but I used it yesterday as a windbreaker and it worked great. It was breathable, but still kept me warm and protected from a chilling Springtime wind (was about 58 degrees that day with a 15-20 mph wind). Based on my research, I am expecting it to be great in the rain too. Finally, it is also very stylish and looks great on, and when I feel good, I ride that much better. Thanks Galibier for improving my riding acumen.

I don’t normally write reviews, but the speedy service and the quality of this jacket has prompted me to do so on this occasion. I bought the Tempest jacket because it got some very good reviews in cycling magazines, even when compared to much more expensive offerings from bigger brands. I have been very impressed so far. The jacket has already experienced some good Scottish downpours and the waterproofing and breathability are excellent. In terms of sizing, I’m 6’2″, 42″ chest, and 83kg. The sizing chart states that XL is the best fit for me, although also says that I should go up a size for a more relaxed fit. I therefore bought the XXL and I consider the fit perfect. It’s not tight, but certainly not loose. There is enough room for suitable layering beneath for cold days. Keep up the good work, Galibier!
Hans Jacobs (verified owner) –
Well made jacket and great fit but unfortunately not waterproof. After 45 mins of cycling in today’s drizzle i got totally wet on the chest, belly and arms.
Sean Featherstone –
I was lucky enough to get an early version of this to test. I basically battered it in all sorts of weather on and off road. 3/4 hours in the pissing rain aren’t a problem for the tempest. This is a problem for me, now I need another excuse in foul weather not to ride. The tempest should do a mud guard, then we wouldn’t get wet at all. Outstanding piece of kit, and for £60. Ridiculous.
Duncan McNutt –
Wore my Tempest Pro jacket for the first time during my latest 100 mile ride. The forecast was rain all day, so I packed the jacket into one of my rear pockets. 90 minutes in and I had to put The Tempest Pro on. For the next 2 and a half hours I rode in heavy rain, up Dovers HIll, Saintbury hill and Snowshill yet once the rain stopped I was nice and dry. The inside of the jacket was dry too which I have never had before. Everything else I have always sweated up in.
I just wish it had a pocket on the rear for food rations
Thank you Galibier.

I have owned this jacket for most of the summer and it has saved me from my Scottish weather forecasters. Very light, and sits neatly in my frame bag. Keeps the worst rain out for an hour and keeps you warm for the rest. I crashed and ripped my Castelli Rain jacket and this was the replacement at half the cost, with the same function and I think a bit more breathable.
Keith L (verified owner) –
Not one to write reviews, but this wee jacket saved me yesterday and today. Rolls up small in an interior bag so you don’t notice it in the pocket. Sublime finish, better than anything I own. Got caught in a surprise 30 min heavy shower and a less surprising 1 hour rain storm today. The jacket breathed well and no rain got through. Highly recommend.
