Description

For unpredictable weather days, having a reliable yet compact jacket is essential. Our second-generation VentUltra jacket is the go-to solution, light enough to pack into a jersey pocket for those ‘just in case’ moments.

Designed for warmth during chilly alpine descents or as a layer against sudden wind chills, the VentUltra emphasizes both minimal weight and compactness. Its advanced VentUltra fabric undergoes an environmentally-friendly DWR treatment, enhancing protection without compromising on weight.

The smart construction features five distinct fabrics, including a feather-light embossed fabric at the front to resist wind and a durable Ripstop Ultra at the rear. Black, full-length side panels crafted from four-way stretch Invent Lycra ensure the jacket contours your body while allowing maximum movement. These panels, being highly breathable, help maintain optimal core temperature. Additionally, our choice of an offset zip design avoids the overlap of zippers when worn over a centered jersey zipper.

Rides up a lot causing flapping at the shoulders
Arm length is good and nice fabric
Could do with a gripper at the base

    Pretty much perfect.
Slips in a jersey pocket for just about every ride and even if it’s not wet, it’s a great extra layer for those “it’s a bit colder than I thought” spring/autumn days; same thing when you want a windproof to slip on at cafe stop. The vents to reach the jersey pockets are also great. Totally recommended.
I’m 6’4″ with 42-44″ chest; XXL gives me just a little flapping around the shoulders as speeds come towards 20mph but I am a narrow build so this is very acceptable for the overall fit.

Great piece of kit, very lightweight, stands out on a dark day. Close fit but enough room to wear over the top of other layers. Had to go a size up as advised in the sizing info – I have the Izoard Quilted Gilet in a small, but had to swap this jacket for a medium.

This is a fantastic product at a simply incredible price. Autumnal weather having arrive, I’ve had it out on a few rides and it’s just the thing. It so light, packs very small, yet it’s extremely effective. The offset zipper feels a bit odd at first, but trust me, you will soon wish all your top layers had one.

Ive just received mine. I had to exchange for the XXXL in the end, but it fits fine. I am 5.8 and 16stone, so my shoulders dont get into alot of cycling jackets. This jacket is snug, but I can move around in it. It packs down incredibly, which is what I was after so as it gets cooler I can carry it around in a pocket and sit out in it or ride at the end of the day/evening.
The return and exchange was really easy too, I originally ordered the XXL but it was too snug, sent it back, then I got an email telling me it was received and the new one was on the way, 4 days turn around, brilliant

Tested today in light to moderate rain. I think their description that this protects against light rain is accurate with the emphasis on “light”. After riding for about 45 minutes in light to moderate rain, my under layers were pretty wet. Bit disappointing but it’s not advertised as complete rain protection. For its weight, it performs well as a wind protector.

Great service yet again from Galibier. I’m 6’6′ and definitely take the advice from going a size up if you are in any doubt. I’m normally a large or xl fit, depending on the garment. The xxl fits me perfect for this jacket!

  8. Darren Williams

Tested this in extreme cold and rain and it stood up to the test. Very comfortable with a great quality feel. Off centre zip gives it a bit of extra style. Packs away into a small pouch that used to hold sunglasses lenses. Great garment, highly recommended.

Does exactly what it says at a great price.
I’m 6ft, 83-85kg and Large is perfect. No flapping material, but not tight to restrict movement. Packs so small its ridiculous – if you scrunch it in your hand when packed into its own stuff sack (attached to inside of jacket) it less than a tennis ball.
I always carry it, even for when we stop for a coffee its ideal to keep the chill off, as well as being great to keep the wind chill off when on the bike.
Can’t fault it. Top marks again Galibier!

Really happy with this one. Bought it as an emergency jacket to pack away in jersey pocket and it’s perfect. It packs down smaller than some of my gilets. Have used it on long descents and when caught in the odd shower and it’s performed very well. Fit is great, I’m 63kg, slim build, bought the small and there is little to no flapping. I’ve found some galibier tops to be a bit bulky at the shoulders but this doesn’t have that issue. And as usual very fast delivery. Thanks Galibier

First use was a Hundred miler with variable showers for more than half the day. Not a single fault with the jacket! easy on and off, fitted well and kept me from being drenched in the heavy downpours. Hard to tell exactly how water resistant due to sweat but every time I took it off noticed how dry my arm warmers were. Seems like a no brainer purchase now. I’m 5ft 11 77kgs with a 37-38 chest (and a slight gut). Medium fitted me very well, tiny bit snug round the abdomen but likely due to my laden pockets.

I really like this jacket; it’s super packable, ultralight, hi-vis and the fabric panels on the back do a fantastic job of venting so you don’t overheat. The off-center zip seemed a little odd at first, but it does prevent the discomfort from doubled-up zippers on the neck when fully closed. Great for ~5-15c weather. I’m 181cm 38 chest, 72kg; Medium fits well, perfect length and a “just right” snug fit with room enough for either a thermal or summer jersey and doesn’t flap in the wind too much. Looks classy, too.

Bought a large, 5;9, 34 waist 40 chest. fits great over a long sleeve jersey.
Just worn this April morning and must say this is a great jacket. Weather started at 4 degrees and went up to 15 by the afternoon and the jacket was able to cope. Was sceptical of the light material but blocks the wind whilst being breathable!! Will get the gillet version for the summer. Thanks for another great product.

  14. David Bosley

Bought recently as colder, wetter weather took over but I still had to ride.
Lovely jacket and kept me warm and dry. Love the colour.
I would say extremely good value for money looking at other jackets on the market.
    Thanks for a great product.

Got given as a Christmas present and couldn’t be happier! It’s been in my back pocket or on my body every ride since getting it. Brilliant extra layer to take the chill off those winter winds and packs down into its attached stuff pocket. What more is there to say apart from another great product Galibier chapeau!

I went for XS as I’m slim and short — this fitted perfectly and has been my go-to jacket for the majority of my rides up here in the far north of Scotland. Great fit, great colour and the packed size is amazing.

Excellent jacket this.fits really well with no annoying flapping in the wind on a fast descent.Love the orange colour, really helps with visibility in low light conditions. Its incredibly lightweight too,you forget you’ve got it on.

  18. Mark Lancaster

Fantastic jacket, packs up tiny, bright colour and stands out from day glow yellow. Wore it for 65 miles in Welsh drizzle never to hot or to cold and not one bit of rain penetrated anywhere. The skits on the back so you reach your jersey pockets great feature. Can’t praise this jacket enough

  19. Cheeks

This jacket is much like it’s fruit lookalike. Its a cool vibrant orange colour,it packs down to the size of an orange & when you peel it open it is super sweet. The fabric is similar to pertex but less than half the price. It has a well thought out design with stretchy material where it’s needed & the off centre zip makes it comfy around the neck.Wind & light showers are handled comfortably & it’s super light.Im 6ft 1” & 80 bags of sugar & the large fits lovely. All round it’s a great wee orange jacket:)

I wore it on a recent MTB trip in Morocco when the weather was very cold and windy up to 2200 metres. It worked perfectly over a merino thermal and a Galibier long sleeve jersey. Brilliant too just to slip on when the weather got warmer and we stopped for photos. Simply wonderful kit.

    Hi there,

Just to report to you that I was delighted to have my VentUltra jacket on my climbing of Mont Ventoux recently. It worked out extremely well an d I would highly recommend it, both for the climb in the cool early morning and of course the descents. I could not complain about it in any way. A group of use went and did the Cingles de Mont Ventoux.

    What an epic day.

PS I also wore my Galibier socks on the day.
Best regards and thanks for your wonderful cycling apparel.

Great jacket this one, luckily it hasn’t rained yet but had this on when outside on the ferry over to Arran and it kept the wind at bay with ease. Stuck it on in a few windy moments and wasn’t sweaty despite the heat.
Customer service is fantastic too, I had ordered the wrong size and they sent me out the right size super quick.

Had my jacket a few weeks now and have tested it in vary conditions and types of rides (fast club runs to Audax)- it has exceeded all expectations – knew it would be good… but this good. It has kept me warm in cold conditions, dry when the weather has turned unexpectedly. Well worth the investment for such a light weight jacket, packable jacket and the sizing is spot on – I’m 64.5Kg, 5’10, size small.

  24. Miles Rinaldi (verified owner)

A great jacket. Wore for 60 of a 90 mile ride yesterday. Kept the chill, wind and drizzle off me whilst keeping me warm which is amazing for such a light weight jacket. Easily folds away and into jersey pocket. I’m 40-41 chest and XL is good – Snug in the waist but good room in shoulders. Highly recommend.

Another fantastic well designed product by Galibier, my arrived prompt as usual, fit a little snug, but I do need to loose a few pounds. It folds/scrunches up suitably small enough to easily fit inside your rear pocket, love the zip design and ventilation.I’m sure the product will perform just as they say, hopefully I’ll never need to use it, but I do live in England!!

  26. Mark Saders

Fantastic jacket. Folds up to the size of a tube and sits nicely in my compact saddle bag beside one. I am 84kgs, 40″ chest and 34″ waist and large fits a dream.

  27. Gordon (verified owner)

I’ve taken this out on a couple of rides – thankfully without heavy rain but certainly cold and windy. It has performed perfectly. I was concerned about sizing but went for medium as I’m 98/99cm chest. I needn’t have worried – size is spot on but as chart says it is neat fitting (particularly at waist when zipping up). However, arm and body movement when zipped up is perfect and is not too tight, length is good for me and there is almost no flapping bar occasionally a tiny amount at the shoulders when riding. It looks great when on and is very well made. Can recommend.

I received mine today and decided to give it a test this evening. I went for Xs as I am a slim lad. Fit is ok but could be an inch longer in the front. It feels well made and very good quality. I had it on the whole ride (about an hour) even thought it didnt rain. I wouldn’t recommend to have it if riding hard as you will sweat inside but then again that is not ehat it is designed for. I would have given it 5 stars if had been an inch longer in the front. Overall happy with the purchase.
