I’ve used regularly over the winter now. First thing – it is eye-searingly day-glo. Great for being seen on grotty days! It works pretty much as described – zip it up and stay warm, unzip and get plenty of air through. And the zip is nice, chunky and runs so well I’ve started to wish all my other Galibier things had the same one. Pockets are decent size and don’t pull.
    I’m 6′ 4″ with a 42″-44″ chest and XXL goes nicely over 1 or 2 layers.

  2. Eoin Scanlon

Delighted with it. Only gripe is it’s very yellow, but only colour available. Worn down to zero degrees with a decent baselayers and still good at 10 with the neck open a bit. Good pockets. 6’3″, 15 stone and 34″ waist, 46″ chest. XL is a good fit. Bit loose on the waist but good fit on shoulders and no flapping. L be too tight. Good length, like the fact it’s short on front. Really love it. Might get another next winter.

  3. David Smithson (verified owner)

Ordered a large and it fits great. 5ft 11 80kgs 98cm chest. Been wearing this in windy 6 degree early mornings with long arm base layer with ARDENNES II ARM WARMER underneath and it’s just right! Another awesome product Galibier!

  4. Giles Byford (verified owner)

Great bit of kit from a truly impressive company. Everything in my first order (and actually more for there too came a freebie!) was delivered in no time at all. I’m 100kg 6’2’with a 48″ chest and 38″ waist and the xxxl Zoncolan gilet feels made to measure. It’s now my go to choice for these early spring spins. Being similarly delighted with all the other items which have matched or outperformed my existing and far dearer kit, I now anticipate buying pretty much all my cycling clothing from Galibier.

  5. Phil Tomlinson (verified owner)

Really great product at a great price.
Very warm and windproof, yet really pretty breathable too.
Some sweat does build up under it, but I never feel cold when wearing it.
Easy to regulate your temperature when riding as the zip is easy to operate with one hand.
    Size medium, 39″ chest 78kg

After many trials and errors,I,ve been wearing this gilet through the sub zero conditions and have never been cold.It was always going to be a compromise, trying to manage sweating in high wind chill.I,ve tried full windproof jackets and end up,”boiled in the bag”.This works for me ,sandwiched betwwen two thermal layers, finishing the ride with dry arms, damp but warm torso.Interestingly, even after an outside coffee stop in winter,I,m not cold, cold if you get my drift, just chilly.

Not sure how I stumbled across this website but glad I did. Read the good reviews and thought this was an ideal addition to the winter wardrobe. First ride out with it last night in 6 degrees with a cold wind and it performed perfectly. Only had a long sleeve thin jersey under and was plenty warm enough. Depending on what’s under I’d say this would be good from 4 to 12 degrees. Looks very well made, viz strips for the dark nights and a handy zip pocket on the front. I’m 80kg, 40 chest, 32ish waist and large is ideal. Just want a thin version of this for the warmer temps now, and will be ordering the tempest pro when back in stock. Thanks Galibier

  8. James (verified owner)

Must have for any cool and/or windy ride. Completely stops wind chill from hitting your core while regulating core temperature. I’m 33″ chest, 30″ waist, 5’7” tall and 65kg. Size description couldn’t have been more spot on, I’m a small but wanted a performance fit so went for extra small and fits perfectly, even over a winter jersey. Rolls up into a club jersey pocket, slightly protruding. Proper zip that you can grab with gloves on. 3 rear pockets are great addition. No rustling or flapping noise while riding. Highly recommend over any brand name if you want a durable cold weather gilet.

  9. Rob Courtney (verified owner)

Great fit, lovely material and it doesn’t flap or rustle! Zip is great as it moves freely and can be operated with one hand. Not something that can realistically be packed away but if you really overheat you can just undo the zip the whole way.

  10. DEREK (verified owner)

I bought the Zoncolan to replace its predecessor the foul weather Gillet whose main zip is a pain in the butt.

The Zoncolan is a much improved fit (Size L for 34″ waist 41″ chest) really good main zip with a great puller.

Sadly the pockets on the Zoncolan are not as good as its predecessor, they are not as roomy and the chest one which used to be an interior pocket and old my mobile phone is now external on the chest but no longer can house my phone.

Don’t let this put you off though its a fantastic gillet, great visibility and reflectivity, really windproof, comfortable etc just buy it

  11. Tim

Last minute panic purchase for recent Malin to Mizen non-stop ride, great bit of kit. Started at night in late August, it was cold right from the start but this gilet was ideal. I wore it until the finish 23 1/2 hours later. Just right for Irish weather; Galibier seem to get things right for our wet and windy island. I also was glad of the day-glow colour.

I could have got away with medium instead of large as it stretches well but large is OK (179cm tall).

It’s a bit bulky if you need to take it off – the clue is in the foul weather title; generally too warm for summer days.

Not waterproof but very weather resistant and you stay warm.

Pockets are great, easily accessible and good size.

    Highly recommended

  12. Alex (verified owner)

Absolutely fantastic. I’m 36″ chest and 30″ waist, 6′ tall and 65kg. Small fits perfectly around the chest and waist, perhaps an inch short at the bottom. I’ve worn it for rides in 12-18 degrees and a run in 14 degrees and always felt warm enough but not at all sweaty. Perfect wind resistance, haven’t tried out the waterproofing yet but having used the first Mistral jacket I’m sure it will be. Fits securely (just!) in a medium sized jersey pocket.
    Another great Galibier garment

  13. Charles Fellowes (verified owner)

    Fantastic jacket.
I was deciding between this and the Mistral Pro Jacket. I planned to try them both and to return one. In the end, I decided to keep both!
I’ve worn this in temperatures ranging from 3’C to 8’C, combined with various jerseys and arm warmers. For dry conditions above 4’C, the gilet way works well for me. It is unrestrictive on movement and warm enough.
Pockets, like the Mistral are cavernous but not saggy. The collar does come quite high, which is good for protection, but can be a little choking.
    Size wise, I went for a large (66kg / 176cm) and it’s a good fit.
I like the yellow (very) fluoro stripe as it’s great for visibility (much brighter than the red used on the Mistral jacket.
If I could only choose one between the jacket and gilet, I’d go for the jacket, but I decided on both and find them both very useful. Basically, if really cold or wet, choose the jacket. If quite cold and dry, gilet. If pushing hard (race or tough training), gilet.
This was another great buy from Galibier which I’d definitely recommend.

  14. Stewart Dixon (verified owner)

First ride in the gilet today on a 4 hour hilly ride. I bought a size large and the fit is perfect. I am 6’2″ and 80 kg perfect length at the front with a longer back which protects from wind and rain. Even though it’s May it was bitterly cold, wet and windy the gilet worked perfectley keeping all the wind and rain out leaving my core warm and dry for the duration of the ride. Three rear pockets are just the right size for stashing kit. Can’t say a bad thing about it. Too be fair didn’t notice the gilet at all during the ride which is what I want from cycling kit. Fast and efficient ordering arrived within two day’s.

  15. Paul Woodhouse (verified owner)

I left a review after using the gillet for a couple of months back in 2017 but thought I’d update my review after a couple of years worth of use, all I can say is that other than when the temperature creeps above 14-15c this is the first bit of kit I get out, it keeps my core warm and dry and the internal chest pocket is perfect for my phone whilst the three back pockets are more than large enough to carry everything else. A super bit of kit

  16. Neil Edwards (verified owner)

Ridiculously good. Got it last winter and was amazed by it – got it out again last week when the temperature dropped to about 4’c in the morning.
I was frequently dubious about the amount of 5* ratings these products got until I found I’d given every thing I’d purchased the same top marks.
Contact by Messenger for advice on sizing and usually answered within a few hours. Top marks.
One thing that does confuse me is those who rate products on how quick your postal service delivers your order to your doorstep – I prefer a PRODUCT review.
    This product is top notch.

  17. NICK THOMAS (verified owner)

Fantastic piece of kit. This is now my go-to cycling add-on between 5 to 10 deg C.
Surprised at how thin it was for a 100% waterproof / windproof item.
USed it on a 100 mile sportive and never felt it for a minute. Super comfortable, super good fit and extremely accessible pockets. Highly recommend

  18. Kevin Black

Have this gillet a few months now, what a brilliant piece of kit, worn on some cold damp spins over LS jersey no body heat loss whatsoever,im 173 78kg 41″ chest opted for L fits great, well done Myles and all at Galibier ..

  19. Stephen Ryan (verified owner)

I have this gilet about a month now. Ridden some very cold and wet rides in Kerry weather and it’s great. Works very well in very windy conditions. I would highly recommend this for cold, wet and windy rides. It keeps your core dry and warm.

  20. Warren Glass (verified owner)

Lovely piece of kit, feels quality and looks the business!! Looking forward to wearing it on my morning rides. Very fast postage. Will soon be kitted out in all galiber gear. Also thanks for the wee surprise of the free socks.. Thank you.

  21. Pieter van Tilburg (verified owner)

A fabulous and versatile piece of gear. Light weight – I barely notice I’m wearing it – (really) warm and wind&waterproof. Worn on different occasions in different types of weathe: wind, chilly, less chilly but windy, rainy and any combination with these elements, and it never let me down and looks good too. Just buy it; essential piece of gear.
Im 6.3 ft/1.91m, 39 ich/99cm chest. Got an XL, fits great.
    Galibier service is excellent!

  22. KORHAN ARUN (verified owner)

Definitely foul weather product. I used it between 10 and 20 Celsius and did the job perfect. I little bit warm after 15 degrees but if you cannot guess the weather this is your product.

Also it has secret inside pocket for valuable and deep back pockets.

    Galibier did the best vest.

  23. Paul Woodhouse (verified owner)

Nice piece of kit, I tend to ride early in the morning (around the Peak District) when temperatures are a little lower and have found that wearing this gilet with a long sleeved jersey gives me enough warmth for the first hour or so without overheating on the rest of the ride. Nice simple looking design and the medium fits my 5’10, 11st ish frame perfectly.

  24. DLR

I am long and tall but ‘slim’ so sizing is always tricky, but after a quick correspondence with Galibier and assurance of a quick exchange if the ordered size is wrong, i opted for the medium.

On quick delivery (as always), the gilet was race tight but with enough stretch to fit over a tight winter jersey and baselayer. it was longer than the jersey on the rear so everything was perfect fit wise. The finish as immaculate as ever.

I’ve done a good 50k and also a 100k sportive in filthy weather and boy does the gilet deliver!!! enough room for sandwiches and support food and kit, inside pocket perfect for map etc and the waterproofing ideal but the warmth is stunning! with a few strategic unzipping of the jersey for when things warm up, this gilet is easy to do up, undo, take off etc etc at pace to manage the conditions. As the ULTIMATE FOUL WEATHER GILET aspires to, it is the finest gilet on the market that I am aware of.

Again, Galibier are my go to suppliers of perfect kit; thank you!

  25. Remy (verified owner)

Since buying, all 3 rides ive worn the gillet have been in temperatures of 3 degrees or less. Wore the Ultimate gillet with a merino base layer and a Gino Light wind jersey. Never felt cold at any time during the rides whether climbing or decending.

Simply put, buy it, you do need it!

  26. cruzmonteiro.fotos (verified owner)

An excelent Gilet, i have no more words for it, superb in all aspects.
    Congrats Galibier.

  27. Derek (verified owner)

Chuffing excellent Gillet this, very windproof, nice high comfortable neckline, showerproof, comfortable, good tailored fit. It would be 5 star if it had a little more subtle reflective on the front and I know its meant to be a Gillet but I’d love half sleeves (think Gabba) on this thing as I hate that cold patch between the arm warmers and the Gillet. Can not recommend this Gillet enough, top product. Bonus points for the pockets and that internal pocket is large enough for a large smartphone.

  28. Chris (verified owner)

I can concur wholeheartedly with the other 5 star reviews.
I’m a skinny bloke and getting clobber that fits is always an issue but not from Galibier. Made to measure wouldn’t fit any better. And yes indeed, it performs and does what it says brilliantly and protects me from the foul weather

  29. gordonm (verified owner)

I’ve now had a few opportunities to wear this gilet on rides in wet if not foul conditions.

I’m 178cm tall with 98cm chest and am wearing a size L. The fit is neat but not too tight. It is longish at the back covering your jersey well.

There are signs of good attention to detail throughout. The rear pockets are a good size and have netting along the bottom, presumably so they don’t collect water. The zip also has a flap of material behind it so wet doesn’t penetrate. There are reflective strips along the top of the pockets.

Out on the bike you wouldn’t really be aware you’re wearing it were it not for the fact that keeps your torso nice and warm and dry. No flapping either. It’s probably too bulky to tuck away in a jersey pocket so if you wear it it’ll be for the entire ride.

In summary – it performs as advertised and I’m well pleased. It should see a lot of use over the next few months.

A dream piece of kit. Enjoyed a week of very mixed autumnal weather in the NW Highlands of Scotland and found this to be a daily companion. I expect extensive use through the upcoming softer southern autumn I usually experience. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

  31. allen (verified owner)

thank you galibier, great fit,, ,nice and warm and very visible so great for my early morn ride, will become one of my go to kit

  32. Tim Ranger (verified owner)

Galibier have created maybe the perfect garment for changeable British weather. I have worn this (with suitable layering) in single figure cold, cool wet summer showers and everything in between – it always just works. OK, I do get a bit sweaty grinding up hill sometimes but the payoff is I have never been cold going downhill or in the rain.
The chest size is spot on – just ensure your waist is an inch or two smaller before ordering! The only negative for me is the length. At 6′ 2″ I would have preferred it to be a little longer.

  33. Nicholas (verified owner)

Really nice quality gilet, wore it for the first time last night on an evening spin up the mountains, kept my core nice and warm as the temperature dropped. The L was a perfect fit for me, 6ft2 with a 40″ chest and a 32″ waist. I was thinking of buying a Rapha gilet but the fact that this was so much cheaper with better features made it an easy decision to go for Galibier. Super quick shipping to Dublin too!

  34. Alan (verified owner)

Fantastic gilet quality garment fit is lovely best jacket I have ever bought

  35. Alan B (verified owner)

Only worm for a couple of rides but it is the usual top quality.
Great fit, accurate sizing chart, really excellent in the recent bad weather.
Super fast delivery too. I have several items from galibier and they never disappoint

  36. SlowEddie12

BEST THING THING HAS EVER BEEN ON MY BACK (and I am including the wife in that statement)

  37. MC

Tried mine out. Superb. Perfectly warm at 3° with rain and hail. Go Galibier cc.

  38. Sean

As usual, top quality materials, comfortable yet slim fit and extremely functional.

  39. Jane H (verified owner)

Just arrived and looks great. Nice stretchy material, snug fit, large pockets. As I am a woman gapes a bit around armhole. For other women, I am slim 16 and this fits snug across the chest and fitted at the back but would be tight on the hips for anyone above size 14 slack size. Look forward to trying out on the bike.
