At the end-of-season cycling dinner last night, an old friend produced three photos from long ago when we raced together. One was a horrendous memory of being very dropped, wearing peach-coloured bibs with our team pink jersey. The shorts were in the sale basket of our shop for about two years, and they went in the bag for the stage race. Embarrassed by youthful vigour, I quickly pocketed the photos.
We fully believe in Ride What You Got. Imposed rules, unwritten or nodded at, are empty and build walls. Bikes are freedom. Wear what you want. Ride what you want.* Freedom feeling lives, as long as you are pedalling.
*Probably not peach shorts in the rain.
